About the Role:

The essential responsibilities of the Test Engineer are to conduct thorough product testing to provide the highest quality software products to both external and internal customers.  Works to understand the business requirements and objectives relative to the desired functionality of products and applications. Evaluates and tests new or modified software to determine that software meets user requirements and established quality standards.

Work Location: Dealer Inspire's HQ in Naperville, IL; or, potential for non-local, US-based remote candidates.

Specific Responsibilities will include:

  • Writes and executes detailed test cases; performs complex manual, integration, and regression tests

  • Documents software issues and enhancement requests and assists development with concise and detailed steps for duplication of any problems found

  • Verifies and maintains accurate status for JIRA issues entered and/or assigned

  • Assists fellow team members and customers with problem reporting and resolution and maintaining appropriate follow-up communications throughout the resolution process

  • Contributes towards task estimation and scheduling.

Required Experience:

  • 2+ years of experience in software quality assurance required

  • Experience with QA-related aspects of the software development lifecycle from development to deployment required

  • Experience working in an Agile/SCRUM software development team and familiarity with Agile development practices strongly preferred

  • Experience using a repository for managing test cases strongly preferred

  • Experience writing test scenarios/cases using the BDD/Gherkin format preferred.

Required Skills:  

  • Ability to create and execute test scenarios/cases, including verification of input requirements/acceptance criteria

  • Ability to comprehend complexity, to fully understand a product with all of its business and technological implications in order to become a subject matter expert, and to approach the improvement of its quality from that perspective

  • Passion for software and technology in general

  • Smart and gets things done

  • Desire and ability to learn new skills and improve upon current skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills, with both technical and non-technical team members;

  • Possess a high level of attention to detail, be organized, and be able to meet testing deadlines.
