Cars.com is seeking an experienced, email marketing guru with a bias for driving results and keen understanding of how to leverage email to meet business goals. This new team member will help lead the evolution of our consumer email program through new, creative and data-driven strategies with the opportunity to extend into new communication channels (SMS, Push, etc.) to guide car shoppers through the consumer journey.
So, what are the qualities an ideal candidate must have? You have an abundance of ideas to test and are energized by digging into open rates, click-through rates, conversion rates, deliverability rates and segmentation to drive continuous program growth – all in a fast-paced environment.
And you not only love email marketing but also the technology that drives the process. Thus, you have hands-on experience with Iterable, Pardot or Salesforce Marketing Cloud (or a comparable ESP) and solid experience leading the process required to design, develop and launch new campaigns from scratch, including manipulating HTML and CSS and setting system rules.
Experience launching and optimizing drip campaigns, triggered sends and retargeting campaigns is also a must along with a demonstrated ability to meet or exceed email program goals.
Own and execute a lifecycle marketing strategy to drive repeat visitation and conversion KPIs by delivering targeted, relevant messaging to the right consumer at the right time throughout the consumer journey
Develop, execute, & manage creative and data-driven, cross-channel marketing campaigns (email, Push and SMS)
Ensure email campaigns are evolving and consistently optimized for browser, mobile device and emerging technology compatibility
Collaborate with design and product teams to launch key projects
Monitor and report on metrics to analyze effectiveness and test/scale new approaches
6+ years of experience in email marketing, CRM, lead nurturing, engagement marketing or marketing automation
Must understand how to utilize email marketing to meet business goals with ability to estimate and communicate impact of programs/initiatives
Must be able to leverage data and experience to provide recommendations needed to make smart, fast campaign decisions
Experience working cross-functionally to operationalize email programs, including proactively working to overcome executional barriers to drive progress
Subject matter expert in email marketing, marketing automation, & building brand, engagement or loyalty programs
Hands-on experience with establishing system rules, filters, segmentation, campaign flows and complex automations
Ability to build email content from scratch using HTML and CSS
Experience designing and conducting A/B and multivariate tests
Knowledgeable of REST-Based APIs
Experience implementing new ESP partners or email technology
Push notification experience is a plus
Previous lead generation, ecommerce or other relevant digital work experience is preferred
Bachelor’s degree required
