We’re seeking an experienced and passionate leader to join our digital product design team. We believe in the power of human connections enabled at scale through technology. As a content strategist on the team, you’ll have the opportunity to positively impact millions of people through the scope and reach of our platforms.

As our lead Content Strategist for Product Design, you’ll work across our portfolios and teams to create the vision for and execution of content strategy within Cars.com. You’ll help to champion the practice of content strategy as part of our overall approach to products and experiences, working closely with designers, product managers and engineers along the way. You’ll lead the creation of content across our digital experiences across touchpoints like site content, micro-copy, UI labels, help copy, push notifications and messaging. You’ll also build strong partnerships with marketing, sales, and operations to create cohesive and compelling experiences for both buyers and sellers in our marketplace.

About You

You’re passionate about content strategy as your craft, about human centered design, and about mentoring and motivating teams – within the discipline. You’ve been a successful advocate for content strategy and helped others understand, appreciate (and ideally, measure) its impact. Practicing your craft gets you excited as you help people intuitively understand and enjoy our products and services, and ultimately make confident car decisions. You’re comfortable working through ambiguity, and in helping to chart a course forward – even without all the information. Your success by is determined by your overall impact to the business and you have high expectations for yourself and others around you.

Specifically, we’re looking for: 

  • 5+ Years as a UX Content Strategist or related field ­– writing for interactive user experiences
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Track record in aligning stakeholders toward a shared vision
  • Effective advocacy for and deep knowledge of the human centered design process
  • Strong focus towards results and orientation toward accountability, for yourself and your team
  • Mentorship at team and individual levels on hard and soft skills needed for design effectiveness
