Carousell is looking for a Strategy Senior Analyst in our next phase of growth, to make everything more accessible to everyone. The Strategy Team is a new team within Carousell, reporting directly to the Founders’ Office. We drive Carousell’s corporate strategy, with a regional and total business coverage. We partner squads, functional and country teams to develop, cascade, and implement strategy end-to-end, with a focus on longer-range opportunities and challenges. You will be groomed as our next generation of leaders, and will report to the Strategy Director.

 

You Will:

Strategy Development and Research

  • Assist in the development of a Strategy point-of-view for new business models, partnerships and long-term business positioning, accounting for Carousell’s strengths, market opportunity and the external environment, working with business stakeholders
  • Be the key monitor of global trends in user behaviour and marketplaces through desktop scans and interviews
  • Develop and drive quantitative and qualitative research to inform strategic choices. This includes user research, market surveys and in-house benchmarking of Carousell viz competitors, to inform strategic choices and responses

Execution of Strategic Projects

  • Where needed and faced with preliminary opportunities, execute go-to-market plans, including working with peer stakeholders and adjacent teams

Corporate Planning

  • Assist in the annual corporate strategy and planning process, including (i) driving workshops with stakeholders to set out strategic choices, make clear tradeoffs, prioritisation and foster alignment; and (ii) projecting and aligning stakeholders on company-level goals  

 

You Have:

Proven analytical abilities and experience

  • Minimum 2 years experience in a strategy and/or business intelligence function. In lieu of that, strong academic credentials with proven experience in case competitions
  • Ability to quickly sense-make the business context/developments, scope out lines of inquiry for analysis, and develop implications/next steps for the business
  • Eye for detail and broad sense of perspective, to understand both the granular operational view and the big picture

Independent Problem-Solver and Executor

  • Strong bias for action, taking charge to own and drive projects, even when lines are not clearly defined
  • Can independently develop end-to-end plans to sense-make, deep-dive problems, and test out hypotheses, with minimal supervision
  • Influencing skills to bring people along in solving a problem, and communicating point-of-view

Comfort with ambiguity, ability to pivot and roll with changes common in start-ups. Hence, experience in start-ups is a plus
