Carousell is looking for a forward thinking Director to lead the Strategy team in Singapore. You will drive the company’s strategy at both the corporate and business unit level, working closely with the leadership team in its strategic reviews and market expansion/ growth of new business lines. This role will also manage a small team supporting strategy work and will also drive special projects in the company. This role will report into SVP, Growth and Strategy.

You will:

Corporate Strategy

  • Develop corporate strategy with the Carousell staff team
  • Drive corporate strategy review and run the strategy planning process that feeds into annual budget planning
  • Facilitate discussions for markets/business units portfolio improvements and business model innovation/ transformation to capture new opportunities
  • Track and assess industry developments, advising on potential strategic implications and recommendations to create unique value ahead of external trends/ competitors
  • Communicate corporate strategy to business units and align business unit strategy with corporate strategy
  • Be an advisor to leaders on squad/business unit strategy development and strategic projects

Program/ project management

  • Lead a small team to
    • Support Core Marketplace squad to project manage the portfolio of initiatives within Core Marketplace, which covers the growth of users, casual sellers and buyers on the platform
    • Drive corporate projects such as post-merger integration or transformation projects

You have:

  • 8+ years of work experience, preferably with combined exposure to consulting and project management
  • Experience working cross-functionally with multiple departments in consumer tech
  • Experience in Project/ Program management/ experience in establishing and leading a PMO function/ project
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with strong business judgment. Ability to use 80/20 principle to solve problems quickly and to prioritise issues
  • Effective writing, presentation and communication skills. Able to communicate complex analyses in a simple, concise and structured manner
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to be personable and to influence
  • Proficient in industry research, quantitative analyses, forecasting/ modelling
  • Experience in qualitative and quantitative research is a plus
  • Degree with good honours or higher from a top tier university
