Summary of the Job: 

As a Data Solutions Architect, you will play a key role in developing and comprehensive data strategies, including data modeling, implementation, data management for cloud-based applications and data analytics systems. Looking for someone who is passionate about driving technology forward by testing a variety of solutions, weighing functionality benefits with cost analysis.  

You will work with a variety of data sources where you will hone your skills in connecting the dots between data and business situations to support the marketing insights team and analytics clients.

 

Essential Functions of the Job

  • Day to day responsibilities include:
    • Develop and implement pipelines that extract, transform, and load data 
    • Investigate alternatives for data storing and processing to ensure implementation of the most streamlined solutions
    • Serve as a mentor for junior staff members by conducting technical training sessions and reviewing project outputs
    • Gather requirements, gain business and IT alignment, perform vendor and product evaluations, mentor business and IT resources
    • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure end-to-end technical and business viability
    • Ensure the successful delivery of solutions, training, and documentation
    • Act as a subject matter expert to apply best practices for the marketing tech solution for each client
    • Support monthly client reporting needs 
  • Key Competencies and Responsibilities
    • Knowledge and hands-on experience with cloud data platforms, preferably GCP 
    • Experience consuming/exposing data in numerous ways, including APIs, BI Tools, SQL
    • Collaborates with the analytics team to set up, maintain, and QA data feeds into our reporting dashboards
    • Helps troubleshoot data quality issues on an ongoing basis
    • Knowledge of industry-wide visualization and analytics tools (ex: Tableau, R)
    • Passion for testing established and emerging data technologies
    • Solid understanding of data architecture and data modeling techniques
    • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
    • Good interpersonal skills and positive attitude

 

Working Relationships, Autonomy, and Supervision:

The Marketing Data Solution Architect must interact and collaborate regularly with all employees and teams of the Agency. This position will report to the Data Solutions Director.

 

Required competencies (characteristics and work style)

  1. Education:
    1. A bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent work experience in related field such as Computer Science, Data Engineering, Data Science, or Information Technology.
  1. Skills and Experience:
    • 1 - 3 years of experience in a data architect or data solutions role
    • Experience working with marketing data    
    • Experience with building ETL solutions from the ground up
    • Experience with GitHub, Atlassian Confluence, and Agile work methodologies
    • Experience working with data pipeline and workflow tools such as Astera, Airflow, Kafka, Fivetran, Funnel, Apache Nifi, Google Cloud Dataflow, Cloud Composer
    • Preferred proficiency with a cloud-relevant programming language (Node.js, Python, Go, Java, .NET, Ruby, or PHP

    • Ability to think and express ideas both strategically and tactically
