Position Summary:

The Managing Director, Account Leadership, Philadelphia sets the vision for their core businesses, maintaining a future-focused view of clients’ key challenges and opportunities. This individual leads the integrated team by providing strategic leadership and guidance, while developing strong client relationships built on trust, respect and partnership. This individual is also responsible for leading and overseeing the account management team out of Carmichael Lynch’s Philadelphia office, to maximize client satisfaction, mentoring and developing agency talent, and help drive agency revenue growth.

 

Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of agency or related experience including deep understanding of benefits of integration in advertising and marketing.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, previously held management roles (5+ years) and ability to mentor and assist in training of team members.
  • Proven learnings from building and maintaining long-term client relationships.
  • Experience managing complex brand and performance campaigns from conception to completion.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills that help in negotiating and compromising in business.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills with an appreciation for precision, creativity, and storytelling.
  • Understanding of essential financial and business principles (specific to agency, a bonus).
  • Curiosity for and points of view on emerging trends, tools, and opportunities within advertising industry and a range of client categories.
  • Strong diversified marketing and categories background, a bonus.

 

Responsibilities:

 

Leadership and Department Management

  • Partner with the Director of Account Management to ensure process continuity, culture building, and strong communications between the Minneapolis and Philadelphia offices.
  • Provide visionary leadership to the Philadelphia account management team, setting clear goals and expectations for ways of working.
  • Manage staff utilization across accounts with project managers and finance teams; identifying strengths and weaknesses of operations and making recommendations for change to increase efficiency.
  • Foster a positive and high-performance work culture, promoting teamwork, and professional growth. Must care deeply about team development and coaching.
  • Make recommendations for employees regarding opportunity, performance appraisal, salary changes, promotions, transfers or terminations.
  • Regularly assess overall account and project management assignments in accordance with client activity and personnel growth strategies.

 

Client Relationship Management

  • Build strong and candid client relationships, acting as the senior contact to assigned accounts, and underscoring the agency’s value to client business at all times.
  • Develop strategic account plans to drive client retention and growth including SOW development throughout the year should opportunities arise.
  • Resolve issues through effective problem solving, communication and clear recommendations on necessary changes for those involved.
  • Keep agency leadership informed of important changes in client organizations.

Business Development

  • Assist agency leadership by improving process operations.
  • Collaborate with business development team to identify new opportunities and cultivate leads while training team on how to mine for organic business.
  • Participate in client pitches and contract negotiations to secure new accounts.

 

Budget and Resource Management

  • Develop and manage account budgets, ensuring profitability and cost-effectiveness.
  • Allocate resources efficiently to meet client needs and maintain high-quality deliverables.
  • Establish compensation/fee arrangements, working with agency financial team on identifying transparent and creative ways to satisfy profitable partnership models.

 

Campaign Strategy and Execution

  • Oversee the execution of advertising campaigns, ensuring they align with clients' goals.
  • Provide strategic direction and approvals at significant steps in the planning and creative processes or when client feedback requires a change.
  • Help shape the story of campaign performance data and provide insights and recommendations for optimization with strategists and channel specialists.
  • Stay updated on advertising industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices while coaching teams to do the same and share internally and externally.

 

Cross Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with internal teams, including strategy, creative, media, analytics, and PR, to ensure seamless integration and timely project delivery.
  • Foster open, kind, and honest communication and collaboration across departments to enhance overall business performance.
