CARMERA is looking for a Director or VP of Finance to own FP&A and Controller duties. This will be our first full-time Finance leader, reporting initially to the CEO, and we will expect you to play a lead role in cultivating the strategy and growth plan of the company by defining the Finance function to support the future of CARMERA.

Your Role:

  • Act as a thought partner to the executive team, providing forward-thinking insights and recommendations for the company’s finance strategy and execution priorities
  • Establish core financial objectives that align with the company’s strategic expansion plans; including revenue, margin and working capital goals
  • Re-architect / re-instrument existing processes as needed to better track key metrics required to measure progress against goals and objectives above
  • Manage weekly, monthly and quarterly financial reporting packages for the Board of Directors and leadership team, and lead the annual forecast process
  • Own the financial model and budget, ensuring key stakeholders understand what/when/how they are empowered to invest in resources, how changes to the plan impact the model and how to adapt the budget to accommodate such agreed changes
  • Maintain compensation and benefits framework in coordination with People Ops on offers, onboarding and offboarding, ensuring employee HRIS systems stay accurate
  • Support implementation of variable compensation programs based on company KPI/OKRs for key functions
  • Take on full responsibility for timely, accurate closing of the monthly books including maintaining the close checklist
  • Own payroll and employee expense policies and reimbursements, and support administration of our employee equity program
  • Recommend and implement value add enhancements to existing and future finops tools
  • Manage AP vendor and AR customer relationships to optimize all PO, collections and remittance processes
  • Select and manage all supporting resources, including bookkeeping/CPA firms; make fiscally grounded recommendations for adding/modifying resources for the future
  • Oversee and optimize all banking relationships and cash management
  • Own compliance and reporting for local, state, and federal government requirements, such as the START-UP NY tax incentive program, and seek out any other such programs we should consider


  • Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree and/or CPA preferred
  • 8+ years of relevant experience; foundation in banking, private equity and/or corporate finance preferred, experience in startups or other entrepreneurial environments a must
  • Execution-oriented self-starter thriving in fast-paced, high “white space” environments
  • Understanding of the unique finance profile of long-cycle, enterprise businesses such as technology supply for the automotive industry
  • Sweats the details and has impeccable organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent / board-ready written and oral communication skills
  • Able to switch between strategic and tactical thinking seamlessly
  • Tech-savvy; proficiency with all required finops and productivity tools
  • Deeply conscientious, trusted, approachable; always putting company and team first
