Role overview

As an Art Director on the CarGurus team, you bring a proven pedigree in visual design and a demonstrated passion and expertise in crafting digital marketing experiences. You will be responsible for driving the creative output across a range of high visibility projects. You will be a gatekeeper and steward of this evolving brand's digital marketing presence and brand design system across creative channels and play a pivotal role on the marketing team and cross-collaboration with members of the product team. You will be challenged to create beautifully crafted visuals and digital experiences that connect to key business metrics while providing thoughtful articulation of your design decisions to leadership and internal stakeholders. You’re comfortable pushing and expanding the brand conceptually as well as implementing, owning and organizing a digital design system for marketing assets that helps the brand scale.

This role requires a high level of business acumen and B2C marketing design experience where you will produce thoughtfully crafted work in support of CarGurus brand and marketing teams such as: website design, brand awareness campaigns, social channel content, email, digital advertising and more. You should be comfortable working with a range of marketing professionals from many disciplines. The work is fast-paced and high visibility, requiring excellent planning, communication and presentation skills. 

This role will report into the Creative Director and will have the opportunity to work closely with the CMO and other high level stakeholders.

What you'll do

  • Deliver marketing objectives through world-class design by leveraging and evolving CarGurus visual identity
  • Deliver creative within brand guidelines, efficiently & with minimal supervision
  • Translate creative briefs into high-quality design, with the lens of business outcomes
  • Fulfill multiple project requests within defined deadlines
  • Present creative ideas effectively and be able to manage and implement feedback
  • Continually adopt new tools and practices, striving to elevate your design
  • Be up to speed and passionate about the latest design trends and digital tools
  • Mentor junior team members to help elevate their work and grow their skills

What you'll bring

  • You are highly collaborative and comfortable managing complex projects independently
  • Proven ability to design marketing materials across channels and formats
  • Ability to translate business goals into world-class design
  • Have a deep understanding of the inputs and strategy that go into marketing such the target audience, conversion goals, product segmentation and more
  • Experience with and appreciation for testing and optimizing creative for performance
  • Expert level in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Comfortable building landing pages with no-code tools similar to: Webflow, Instagpages, Wordpress or Shopify
  • Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and a minimum of 8-10 years of related experience and/or training preferred
  • Portfolio of related work required to apply for this position
