Role overview

As a backend engineer on the SEO team, the Senior Software Engineer role will be responsible for writing extensible code and features, designing systems with collaboration with other team members, participating actively in code reviews, and building automation and monitoring for the team's systems. This person will also be expected to collaborate with Product and frontend engineers closely, actively participate in team meetings and contribute ideas, and provide support during production issues. The SEO domain they will work on includes URL structure and internal linking, content and CMS integration, and iterative A/B and SEO testing to reduce user confusion.

What you'll do 

  • Collaborate with fellow engineers, designers, product managers, and analysts to take an idea from concept to technical design to implementation to testing to measurement
  • Drive impact forward. This could be anything from implementing a new full consumer facing feature, to integrating with a key partner or technology, to an SEO test to help determine impact
  • Be deeply engaged in the full development lifecycle designing, developing, testing, deploying, maintaining, monitoring and improving software
  • Investigate, identify, and implement API performance enhancements
  • Advocate for new technology and new methodologies
  • Continuously learn and expand your capabilities

What you'll bring

  • Expert in OOP (Java preferred), ideally in fast paced environments
  • Solid experience in the data layer including SQL, caching strategies, and storage alternatives
  • A strong understanding of data structures, algorithms and complexity analysis
  • Experience working with web tier technologies and strategies
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams with front-end engineers, Product, and UX
  • The ability to iterate and ship ideas quickly
  • Experience with A/B testing and performance testing preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering
