About the role

Our UK business has tremendous potential and is moving out of its launch phase, which produced fantastic results and attracted a number of high-profile, high-volume clients. To take this market to the next level, we’re now looking for a Financial Controller to join our growing UK team. This role is a rare opportunity to take your career to the next level; we can guarantee a challenging, fast-paced tech start-up environment, no bureaucracy, and specialised teams of incredibly bright, driven individuals who will be on hand to support you in your undertakings. As well as carrying out traditional Controller tasks, you will be working hand-in-hand with the UK CFO, identifying inefficiencies and introducing new processes and systems to address them.

 

Responsibilities

  • Directly manage an accounting team of 2, as well as outsourced accountants
  • Monitor day-to-day financial operations within the business
  • Responsible for timely month-end close and preparation of balance sheet recs
  • Responsible for the preparation of quarterly VAT returns
  • Responsible for the preparation of weekly country reports, cash flow and other internal reporting requirements
  • Responsible for the timely submission of all workers VAT and self-assessment tax submissions
  • Manage year-end audit and tax process
  • Establish and maintain policies and procedures for the business
  • Ensure adherence to financial regulations and legislation

 

Requirements and Skills

  • Strong interest in the on-demand labour space and excitement to challenge the status quo
  • High-growth startup experience a strong advantage
  • ACA, ACCA (or equivalent) qualified, or qualified through extensive relevant experience
  • Financial planning and analysis experience
  • Excellent analytical skills, expert user of Excel/Sheets
  • Proficient in the use of accounting systems (familiarity with Quickbooks is a plus)
  • Experience managing a small team
  • Excellent problem solver, experience with process design and improvement
  • Attention to detail balanced with swift execution; we need to do things quickly and we need to do them well
  • A self-starter attitude and the ability to take initiative in a constantly-changing work environment
  • Fluency in English, spoken and written
