We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Creative Brand Manager to drive our brand's creative vision and strategic development. The ideal candidate will not only possess a strong background in brand management and strategy but will also bring hands-on production experience.

The Creative Director will use video and digital content in a creative manner to amplify the work of guest teachers and role models in communities across the country.  

Kokua Education, founded by a teacher in Chicago in 2011, has grown rapidly, organically and under the radar. We’re now looking for a brilliant brand leader to use marketing and storytelling to launch us into our next phase.  

About Kokua Education:

At Kokua Education, our mission is to empower students - predominantly in Title 1 schools - by placing passionate and inspiring guest educators who can maximize the value of substitute teaching time.  Students spend up to one year on average with a substitute teacher by the time they graduate, resulting in consequential amounts of lost learning.  Kokua was founded in 2011 by a former teacher and has since grown (without outside funding) to service nearly 500 schools and over 1 million learning hours each year.

ROLE SUMMARY: 

Full-Time / Director

As the Creative Director at Kokua Education, you will play a pivotal role in storytelling and amplifying the important impact guest teachers make in communities across the country.  You will be entrusted with shaping our brand by leading our brand's evolution and strategic development within our markets. 

Your role is integral to our visionary and innovative culture, and it involves daring to dream big and pushing boundaries.

Key Outcomes & Mission:

As Creative Director at Kokua Education, you will be responsible for driving the following outcomes:

  • Create multiple pieces of content every quarter that connects the stories of Guest Teachers with internal and external audiences
  • Go On-Site to our Partner Schools to lead in-person interviews with our Guest Teachers and School Partners to create content
  • Create a strategy & schedule of content distribution that helps us build the brand & social media presence
  • Manage influencer content creation for Paid Media to be used to attract more Guest Teachers
  • Improving website performance and creative to increase traffic and conversion

Overall, the key outcomes of this position are tied to creating & distributing content on a consistent basis which ultimately leads to overall brand growth and increased growth of guest teachers and school partners.  For example, showcasing how we achieved greater web traffic & applications through organic content that we post. 

Responsibilities:

You will play a vital role in advancing our brand and building on our mission to empower and positively influence children in grades K-12.  

  • Drive digital engagement and content creation, crafting compelling narratives for both Guest Teachers & Schools across online platforms. We aim to connect with our audience in meaningful ways.
  • Lead and drive end-to-end brand strategies and marketing plans to fulfill our mission, working in close collaboration with key team members across the organization.
  • Coordinate seamlessly across cross-functional teams to drive efficiency and alignment in all brand-related initiatives, ensuring that our brand growth is a collective effort.
  • Adopt a consumer-led, end-in-mind approach to determine the elements that will deliver our brand's educational offering through innovative ideas that span the online to offline consumer landscape.
  • Innovate and develop new, emerging methods of engaging with our target audience, ensuring that our brand's work is not only inspiring and impactful but also highly innovative.
  • Lead the brand's transformative journey, ensuring that every milestone aligns with our mission.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • 5+ years of experience in brand management, with a track record of innovative and visionary brand strategies.
  • Strong creative eye and ability to be the steward for brand and design
  • Creative thinker with track record of innovation for identifying new platforms and products
  • Proven experience in strategic planning and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Strong passion for education, innovation, and strategic brand growth.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Outstanding presentation and communication abilities.
  • Highly creative, resourceful, and detail-oriented.
  • Exceptional time and project management skills.
