About the role

Saudi Arabia is one of the most strategic markets for Careem, with presence across all core cities in Ride Hailing and a growing coverage of our Food delivery offering in Jeddah, Riyadh, Dammam, Madina, and Mecca.  Careem’s Super App journey is at its beginning in KSA with a  massive opportunity to serve market needs, and we’re looking for someone to lead the Food vertical for Careem in KSA.

Key responsibilities

  • Developing the market vision and strategy, setting quarterly objectives, and leading key projects
  • Directing the execution and day-to-day operations of the market
    • Sales and Account management function directly reporting into Commercial Director
    • Logistics, Marketing, and Restaurant Operations with dedicated resources supporting Commercial Director 
  • Overseeing and managing the market performance at a country, city, and zonal level - evaluate and improve performance as required
  • Managing and owning the P&L for the country setting direction, budget allocations, and forecasts and plans at an annual, quarterly, and monthly level - maintaining and optimizing budgets
  • Setting policies and processes for the business in the market
  • Building key relationships internally and with market stakeholders  to establish a thriving business
  • Directing support functions, including government relations and supply management on business goals, challenges, and opportunities

The ideal candidate will have a passionate commitment to leading and growing an exceptional Food tech business in a Super App ecosystem. We’re looking for someone with an insane focus on excellence and customer service, a strong sense of curiosity and urgency to get things done, and a clear alignment with our core values: ownership, being of service and shooting to the moon. Key qualifications include:

  • Proven experience as a General Manager or similar executive role
  • 10+ years of experience
  • Experience in planning and budgeting
  • Experience leading Account Management and Sales functions
  • Experience with and understanding of FMCG and F&B industries
  • Knowledge of business processes and functions (finance, HR, procurement, operations etc.)
  • Strong analytical ability
  • Solid decision making skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Outstanding organizational and leadership skills
  • Problem-solving aptitude
  • Understanding of the KSA market, in-market experience a plus
