Careem is looking for a rock-star Strategy Manager– Careem Verticals.

 

  • JOB PURPOSE

The Strategy team is at the center of thinking and planning major initiatives within Careem with an objective to successfully achieve the company’s ambitious growth targets. As the Strategy Manager – Careem Verticals, you will be working with a high performing team and will be responsible for leading the strategy transformation and required org change initiatives around it at a time when the ride hailing market is evolving rapidly. This includes:

  • Understanding the core of the Careem business
  • Managing the implementation of the strategic planning processes to ensure adoption of best practices to influence better outcome
  • Leading the overall long-term strategic planning and integration of various plans
  • Managing the implementation of the strategic and operational plans at country/vertical level
  • Helping define company’s annual change direction and identifying key strategic bets
  • Defining organizational and market priorities around org changes and ops improvements on a quarterly basis
  • Supporting with analysis and advice on major transformation decisions
  • Developing market focused strategies to support the operational teams on the ground for individual verticals within Careem (RH, NOW, PAY, and more, soon to come)
  • Developing needful analytical and conceptual frameworks for strategy formulation
  • Supporting Careem verticals on their strategic / priority topics on a need-basis
  • Conducting / overseeing market research, competitive analysis and industry benchmarking needed for strategy articulation
  • Conducting typical program / portfolio management activities

  • KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (OUTPUTS, KPI’S)

This role will be accountable for the following:

  • Accountability for overall growth and profitability (shared KPI with other functions)
  • Delivery of an annual corporate strategic plan for all Careem verticals
  • Delivery of quarterly priorities
  • Delivery of key org change initiatives within Careem verticals
  • Delivery of priority pieces identified by the company’s C-Level

 

  • QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

The ideal candidate will have a passionate commitment to improving the lives of people, an insane focus on excellence and customer service, and a strong alignment with our core values and purpose.  

 

Additional qualifications include:

  • Relevant Master’s education background, especially MBA, Strategy, Management, Economics, Finance or Computer Science / Engineering from a top-tier academic institution
  • 7-10 years of experience in professional environments, especially working with the Strategy, PMO, or Transformation arm of a leading organization and/or a top tier management consulting firm
  • A passion for and demonstrated experience working with technology companies including internet, super app, and marketplace focused companies
  • Demonstrated experience building and motivating high performing teams
  • A track record of leadership, applying problem solving skills to tackle complex challenges, working successfully with senior leaders in organizations and defining strategic directions leading to impact
  • Comfortable with continuous engagement with C-level and Senior Leadership
  • Strong analytical and communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation)
  • Strong team-play, comfortable with cross-team collaboration
  • Prior Strategy or Strategic Planning experience in a tier-1 consulting firm is a big plus
  • Prior experience in a ride-hailing / e-hailing / car-pooling / food delivery / e-commerce / payment / fintech company is a big plus
  • Prior senior experience in a super app company is a big plus
  • Prior (tech) startup experience and/or working in entrepreneurial environments (such as incubators, accelerators, VCs, etc.) is a big plus
