About the role:

This is a key role in driving the L&D strategy and initiatives that strengthen the leadership and colleague capability across Careem by driving high impact learning experiences to cater diverse learning needs aligned to business strategy and contribute to building a high performing organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Mature Careem’s learning agenda, shifting from fragmented learning to integrated and holistic learning that drives performance
  • Create and implement forward thinking L&D strategy to support rapid business growth
  • Conceptualize and implement Careem Academy to build colleague capabilities and learning paths aligned to the business strategy
  • Implement a digital learning strategy and system infrastructure to support the learning vision
  • Develop a learning culture through social learning and peer to peer networks
  • Develop scalable approach to conduct training needs and perform analysis of the results across the business
  • Build a team of dedicated learning professionals deployed throughout the region to operate in a in a fast-paced, do it whatever it takes environment
  • Manage a portfolio of technical, functional and behavioral continuous initiatives
  • Build a coaching and mentoring culture
  • Leverage internal feedback and external benchmarking for ongoing talent development needs analysis
  • Create robust approach for evaluating learning initiatives and demonstrating ROI
  • Collaborate with and upskill the People team (across regions) to ensure solutions suit the diverse business stakeholder needs and that they are engaged and upskilled to support the L&D strategy
  • Commission and manage additional internal or external resources as and when required in order to ensure cost-effective delivery of agreed L&D initiatives.
  • Work with line managers on the design and delivery of appropriate and relevant Development Plans for colleagues; to commission and evaluate agreed internally-delivered interventions
  • Ensure operational effectiveness in delivering core programs to thousands of colleagues each year
  • Establish lean processes and a customer-centric approach to the learning experience
  • Invent new and innovative approaches for delivering and scaling programs in a rapidly growing organisation
  • Analyse the audience, content, technologies, operational constraints, and trade-offs associated with delivering the most impactful solutions for a highly ambiguous environment
  • Demonstrate strong business acumen, including problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and a willingness to be vocally self-critical 

Requirements 

  • Proven experience in the areas of leadership development, coaching, organizational development, group facilitation, and training design
  • Proven experience with the design, development, implementation, and measurement of classroom, self-directed online and virtual synchronous learning solutions that positively impact the business
  • Proven experience in developing and executing strategy in a fast-paced and rapidly changing organisation
  • Proven experience of conducting training evaluation and demonstrating ROI
  • Project management skills, including managing details, keeping multiple tasks/projects on track, using time well, and doing whatever it takes to deliver reliable results
  • Experience with large scale portfolio/program/project management
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities
  • Strong analytical skills and experience using and presenting data to make decisions
  • BA or BS degree in a relevant field such as psychology, business, education, instructional design, organizational development, or equivalent experience
  • Up to 50% travel required to regions (Saudi, Pakistan, Egypt, Berlin)

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Master’s degree or higher in related discipline (CIPD, business psychology or other)
  • Test user ability and personality qualification (British Psychological Society)
  • Operational/business expertise outside of training and leadership development
  • Experience supporting the training and leadership development of a start-up organization
  • Experience with business, financial and process improvement tools, concepts and methodologies
  • Outstanding interpersonal and leadership skills; a role model for the concepts and skills we teach
  • Proven ability to lead and engage distributed teams
