Carbon is commercializing fundamental advances in 3D printing materials and hardware. The result: Faster printing, diverse material properties, and a game-changing customer experience. Our product is the intersection of hardware, software, and molecular science. Carbon operates in a complex business environment that includes a global customer and vendor base, a product portfolio across software, chemicals, hardware, and accessories, and the ambition to scale new technology in mass production and manufacturing. To support our growth strategy, we are looking to hire Indirect Procurement Manager.

This role will report to Carbon’s Director of Strategic Sourcing. This is an individual contributor (non-people manager) position and is based in our Redwood City, CA office with a hybrid schedule of 2 to 3 days a week onsite. 

You will:

  • Effectively manage Carbon’s spend across the organization, with a focus on supporting stakeholder needs and developing
  • Proactively collaborate with business partners and stakeholders to lead contract negotiations with suppliers; develop negotiation approaches, fallback positions and acceptable terms and conditions through contract completion
  • Identify key benchmarks to measure supplier performance, develop positive relationships, and ensure adherence to contractual terms
  • Develop and maintain key category strategies that support existing and future business objectives (e.g. spend, quality, cost, and resilience)
  • Initiate and execute vendor rationalization plan(s) in order to deliver cost reductions, quality improvements, innovation and increased vendor utility
  • Review existing contracts and understand business requirements; work closely with legal to formulate guidelines and design standard vendor contract protocols
  • Assist in development financial analytics to support negotiations, including the use of performance dashboards and ROI-based evaluation tools
  • Identify and realize cost-saving and cost-reduction opportunities on existing spend
  • Help build a culture of long-term savings on procurement costs without compromising supply or quality
  • Establish processes for tracking savings and demonstrating the value-add of the sourcing organization
  • Continually explore new technologies to optimize performance, efficiency, and value to stakeholders
  • Support internal and external audit, SOX compliance and due diligence requests as necessary
  • Drive the creation of efficient and scalable processes within the indirect sourcing space, and across Carbon in general.
  • Lead the day-to-day process of ensuring successful partnerships (milestone adherence, change order management, quality assurance, cost control, etc.) and build supplier performance assessments to support future sourcing decisions
  • May support the team as needed on other projects

You have:

  • Significant broad experience in all elements of strategic sourcing and category management for indirect services, including professional services, technology, software (especially SaaS), marketing and facilities.
  • 5+ years of strategic sourcing, procurement or vendor management experience, with a preference for experience in a high-growth, dynamic environment
  • The ability to build and nurture strong relationships both within and external to Carbon
  • Strong negotiation, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • The ability to work independently or within teams
  • Superior interpersonal and presentation skills, with the ability to summarize complex issues and drive decisions by stakeholders or Senior Leadership.
  • Demonstrated quantitative and analytical skills, with a strong attention to detail
  • The ability to successfully leverage technology and financial systems to extract and analyze data
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, or related field, or equivalent experience.

    organization.

At Carbon, we look at the person holistically and carefully consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation.  The pay range for this position is $124,000 - $186,000.  Your actual salary will be based on your experience, work location, certifications and the unique skills you bring to the role. If you are not based in our Redwood City office, the range above will be adjusted for the geographical differential associated with your actual work location.
