The Private Markets Group supports the execution of our private equity due diligence work across the entire firm, both as a leading team and in close collaboration with every industry vertical (e.g., financial services, energy and climate, national security, healthcare, and tech). The team also is dedicated to Capstone’s corporate advisory business, working with some of the world’s largest corporations as a policy and strategy advisor. The Senior Associates in the Private Markets Group are given the opportunity to work across the entire firm on a wide variety of projects for both private equity and corporate clients. What You’ll Do in this Role: 

  • Work in small teams (typically 3-5 people) to support policy and regulatory due diligence and corporate advisory projects across all of Capstone’s industry verticals.  
  • Contribute to multiple projects, often concurrently, as PE diligence work is often completed in a few weeks while corporate work is typically over a longer duration.  
  • Brief Capstone’s clients on your work, which includes world-leading private equity firms and corporates, on the outlook for policies and political issues that are material to their investments and business operations. 
  • Rapidly expand your knowledge of and fluency in a range of policy and regulatory issues at the US federal and state levels, as well as in the UK, the EU, and other geographies of client interest.  
  • Be given the opportunity to develop individual areas of expertise, including covering themes for PE and corporate clients as well as our capital markets business.  
  • Be an advocate for best practices and logistics across the firm as one of the few analysts that works with each industry vertical team.  

Qualifications: 

  • Capability to drive an independent workstream in the context of a broader team project. 
  • Ability to break down and solve problems through quantitative and qualitative thinking and analysis. 
  • Strong analytic writing and PowerPoint skills, with the ability to generate and clearly articulate powerful insights and recommendations from complex and varied information. 
  • Be a highly collaborative team player with a demonstrated track record as a self-starter and the ability to multi-task and prioritize among competing demands. 
  • Knowledge of and interest in policy (federal, state, and local). Subject matter expertise in specific policy, regulatory or financial subjects a plus.  
  • Other specialized skills include but are not limited to: M&A experience, data analytics/data visualization (e.g., SQL, Python, VBA, Tableau), knowledge of supply chains. 

Education and Experience Requirements: 

  • Two to five years experience in consulting, finance, political risk, or another client-facing advisory role. 
  • Bachelor's degree; Advanced graduate degree (e.g., MBA, MA) or equivalent (typically 5+ years) work experience preferred. 
  • Strong command of MS Office, and especially PowerPoint and Excel. 
  • Project management experience a plus. 
  • Must be U.S. citizen or permanent resident, eligible to work without sponsorship.
