As a Guidance, Navigation, and Controls (GNC) Engineer, you will work at the intersection of astrodynamics, attitude control, estimation, mission analysis, and software development. You’re an independent problem solver that seeks out ways to make our systems better, learns new concepts, and wants to help build capabilities to push spacecraft operational capabilities. As part of the space operations team, you will interact daily with other software engineers, spacecraft operators, satellite engineers, and data product engineers to develop a highly autonomous spacecraft operations system. We expect all Space Operations team members to work on a variety of problems across the spacecraft operations space, be familiar with how the spacecraft functions, and be capable of responding to anomalies in the GNC software and subsystems.

We are a team of flexible engineers, addressing challenges across all spacecraft GNC domains, driving projects, guiding spacecraft mission analysis, analyzing and understanding on-orbit data, and thoroughly testing changes. We work on initiatives including precise orbit determination, maneuver planning, collision avoidance, attitude control optimization, constellation capacity modeling, and developing internal astrodynamics and control software libraries. For this position, we are looking for an engineer with a strong background and interest in spacecraft dynamics, estimation, controls, and software engineering to push the bounds of what has been accomplished in spacecraft operations. The position is available in San Francisco or Louisville, CO.


  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Aerospace, Computer Science, Engineering or a relevant field
  • Knowledge of a scripting programming language (Python preferred) as well as compiled languages (C/C++/Rust)
  • Expertise in high fidelity satellite orbit and attitude dynamics modeling
  • Knowledge of GNC-related spacecraft subsystem hardware, functionality, and use, in particular attitude determination and control systems as well as propulsion subsystems
  • Experience with orbit propagation and spacecraft maneuver planning
  • Knowledge of estimation theory (Kalman Filtering, Least Squares, etc)
  • Understanding of software architecture, interface design, testing patterns, and software development
  • Experience modeling complex space systems in particular interacting subsystems and constraints
  • A willingness to learn new skills and take on new responsibilities
  • Enjoyment of teaching and learning from other team members
