ROLE OVERVIEW: 

 We are looking for a skilled Database Administrator (DBA) to manage, optimize, and maintain our database systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in database management, performance tuning, and security, ensuring high availability and efficiency of critical data infrastructure. Experience in IT environments, preferably within financial services, banking, or corporate and investment banking (CIB), is highly desirable. The candidate should also be proficient in reading and writing UML (Unified Modeling Language) and ERD (Entity-Relationship Diagrams) to effectively design and document database structures.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Install, configure, and maintain database systems (SQL, NoSQL, or other relevant technologies).
  • Monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize queries for efficiency.
  • Implement security measures, backup strategies, and disaster recovery plans to safeguard data.
  • Work closely with development and operations teams to ensure seamless database integration and performance tuning.
  • Manage user access controls, permissions, and database policies to maintain data integrity and compliance.
  • Design and implement solutions for database scalability, high availability, and replication.
  • Conduct database migrations, upgrades, and patch management as needed.
  • Maintain documentation of database structures, processes, and best practices.
  • Read and write UML and ERD diagrams to design, document, and communicate database structures effectively.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Strong experience with relational and non-relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
  • Proficiency in performance tuning, indexing, and query optimization.
  • Experience with database security, encryption, and compliance standards (GDPR, ISO, etc.).
  • Ability to read and create UML and ERD diagrams for database design and documentation.
  • Knowledge of cloud database solutions (AWS RDS, Azure SQL, Google Cloud, etc.) is a plus.
  • Experience working with large-scale enterprise environments and financial industry databases is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages (Python, Bash, PowerShell) for automation.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
  • Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, Oracle Certified Professional (OCP), AWS Certified Database – Specialty are a plus.
