Capco’s global Data Practice team of 800+ data practitioners enables financial institutions to become data-driven by helping transform their understanding, management, storage, and use of data to derive value for themselves and their customers.

Your Role

You’ll be joining Capco’s Data Practice as a Data Protection & Ethics Manager. You will use your deep data expertise to lead and drive the formulation of focused, actionable and effective data protection and ethics strategies to sustainably deliver business outcomes for our clients.

Our projects vary in their nature, and your responsibilities will differ based on client requirements, but could include:

  • Scoping, mobilising, and running the delivery of client data governance strategies with a focus on data protection and ethics, managing and coaching mixed Capco / client teams
  • Overseeing the definition of the client’s data protection and ethics target operating model, including design of processes, roles & responsibilities, and governance to sustain the data protection and ethics strategy in BAU
  • Being the key advisor of data protection and ethics solutions and tooling
  • Heading up data maturity / capability assessments to provide a clear and objective assessment of client data protection and ethics capability levels
  • Directing the definition of data policies, standards and guidelines with respect to data protection and ethics
  • Running, structuring, and facilitating interviews and workshops to identify client pain points and their root causes, and linking these to wider data capabilities (e.g. Data Governance, Data Quality, Data Architecture)

You will also play a role in developing the Data Privacy & Protection capability within Capco, which may include:

  • Identifying and researching business development opportunities on new or existing clients and aiding the development of client proposals and bids
  • Contributing to internal / external-facing thought leadership
  • Developing data methodologies and accelerators to enhance Capco’s delivery capability
  • Supporting training of Capco resources in data methodologies
  • Managing and running capability offerings or operational areas, in partnership with the Data Protection and Ethics capability lead and colleagues in the Data Protection and Ethics practice
  • Developing and sustaining excellent internal and external client and vendor partnerships
  • Identifying and researching business development opportunities on new or existing clients and directing the development of client proposals and bids
  • Defining internal / external-facing thought leadership
  • Developing data methodologies and accelerators to enhance Capco’s delivery capability
  • Developing and delivering training for Capco and client resources in data methodologies

Your Skills and Experience

Most importantly, you’ll have a passion for data. You will bring your track-record in driving data change to enable clients to achieve their business outcomes.

To qualify for the role, you will have most of the following:

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in data governance, data management or related roles
  • Strong understanding and experience of GDPR, AI ethics, NIST and/or other data protection or ethics framework
  • Deep understanding of the ethical risks associated with analytics and AI, and the implications for operating models in financial services
  • Experience structuring risk and control frameworks in relation to data protection and ethics, and how such controls can be made operationally effective and scalable
  • Experience in control assessment, design and mobilisation of data protection or ethics controls such as the PIA/AIA or ROPA, covering process design, definition and mobilisation of roles and responsibilities, tooling strategy, and governance structures
  • Excellent business analysis skills such as requirements elicitation and management, process design, and RACI definition
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with extensive experience and comfort working autonomously and in team environments
  • Strong experience in simplifying complex concepts, supported by excellent verbal and written communication skills, including in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word and Excel
  • Strong experience working in demanding project environments, with a high level of commitment and drive, including whilst under pressure and in ambiguous circumstances
  • Proven experience running delivery teams, with an ability to create and sustain a positive and inclusive team environment
  • Solid experience in project scoping and management

Ideally, you will also bring:

  • 5+ years consulting experience at a top-tier consultancy, or a similar internal change / transformation role within a leading Financial Services organisation
  • A background in Financial Services (e.g. banking, insurance, investment management)
  • Hands-on experience in data protection tooling (e.g. OneTrust) and control operation
  • A strong understanding of the challenges and opportunities of the data protection and ethics regulatory horizon
  • Up-to-date knowledge of industry best-practices within data protection and ethics
  • Formal certification in data privacy
