Lead the team delivering Ubuntu, the world’s most popular cloud operating system. You will work with our partners to ensure that Ubuntu is the default platform for leveraging the innovation happening both in and on top of the largest public clouds in the world.
As an engineering manager at Canonical your responsibilities are to the public cloud partners and the people you lead. Technical leadership and a solid background in software development is a must, so that you’re able to challenge and grow your team members. You will have the opportunity to influence the culture, facilitate technical delivery, and work with your team on strategy and execution.
What you’ll do
You will strive to make Ubuntu the default platform for leveraging the innovation happening both in and on top of the largest public clouds in the world
You will build relationships with key counterparts in the public cloud world to ensure seamless delivery of Ubuntu
You will help partners leverage Ubuntu to grow the usage of their cloud services and offerings
You will build and lead a globally distributed team of engineers through hiring, coaching, mentoring, feedback and hands-on career development
You will demonstrate sound engineering principles by directly contributing toward your team’s goals
Support timely delivery of technical solutions to address business needs
Effectively set and manage expectations with other engineering teams, senior management, and external stakeholders
Advocate and advance modern, agile software development practices and help develop and evangelize great engineering and organizational practices
Grow a healthy, collaborative engineering culture in line with the company values
Be an active part of the leadership team and collaborate with other leaders in the organisation
Work from home with global travel up to 20% for internal and external events
Who you are
You are passionate about modern computing and accelerating workloads with cloud technologies
You love developing and growing people and have a track record of doing it
You are knowledgeable and passionate about software development
You have experience in leading, managing, coaching and mentoring software developers towards delivering timely, high quality software together with them
You have solid experience working in an agile development environment
You have experience leading large open source software projects with a distributed team
A Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
