The Assistant Project Engineer is accountable for assisting the Project Engineer throughout all phases of project management, including participating in the development and execution of the work plan. The Assistant Project Engineer is responsible for coordinating and monitoring key aspects of a project and learning project management techniques.


  • Provide support to Project Engineer and Project Manager in the development, evolution and coordination of the work plan, budget, and schedule.
  • Provide support to ensure that the Project Engineer and Project Managers are able to achieve projected milestones, adherence of project budget and communication throughout the entire project life
  • Support and work with Project Engineer to establish shared expectations and provide clarity on how we will work together, the involvement of key stakeholders, and the timing of key decisions.
  • Willing to be trained; will learn from and shadow PE’s and PM’s; absorb project management techniques. This is a developmental role on the career path to Project Manager.
  • Develop and utilize expertise in interpretation of drawings and specifications and other contract documents for constructability.
  • Attend scheduled meetings, document decisions, and provide feedback to the team and help synthesize actionable items.
  • Add to a positive team environment through active project participation, empowering team members, and celebrating accomplishments.
  • Utilize and operate Modular Design + programming using process expectations, best practices, reference standards, tools, templates, and technology to achieve competitive advantage, superior service delivery and quality, and enhanced team productivity and profitability. 
  • Ensure frequent, regular team communication to share information, optimize results, and build positive team dynamics.


  • High School diploma required; Associate degree preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of related experience; vocational or technical training a plus
  • Demonstrate solid verbal and written communication skills.
  • Needs strong organizational skills as well as the ability to handle multiple projects.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word and Outlook; computer literate and able to learn data management software.
  • Able to complete a background check with successful results


While performing the duties of this job, the employee may work in both an office setting and a manufacturing setting at times performing work related to construction projects and may be exposed to mechanical parts, industrial equipment, high precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock.  The noise in these work environments is usually moderate to very loud. Appropriate PPE is required. Time spent in office and / or manufacturing settings will vary.
