Mobile Game Designer - Calmlings
What You’ll Do
As Mobile Game Designer, you’ll shape and drive the gameplay details and development process for Calmlings, a groundbreaking mobile game blending mental health with character-driven gameplay.
You’ll collaborate with Calm’s founders and a world-class team of engineers, artists, and creators to craft enchanting experiences that keep players coming back.
- Design Engaging Gameplay: Imagine, prototype, and refine magical game mechanics and player experiences that captivate and delight.
- Create Compelling Game Loops: Build core loops, reward systems, and progression paths that drive long-term player engagement.
- Lead Product Vision: Help build the creative direction for Calmlings, transforming bold ideas into playable, shippable gameplay.
- Data-Informed Design: Use playtesting, analytics, and player insights to fine-tune experiences and balance gameplay.
- Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work closely with engineers, artists, and producers to bring ideas from concept to launch.
- Prioritize Well-Being: Ensure the game’s design supports mental wellness, emotional connection, and an inclusive player experience.
Who You Are
You’re a talented, hands-on mobile game designer with the skills to lead design and development of Calmlings and inspire creativity across teams.
- Game Design Pro: 3+ years designing mobile game mechanics, systems, and progression paths.
- Master of Game Loops: Deep understanding of player psychology, progression systems, and habit-forming gameplay.
- Visionary Storyteller: Ability to create character-led experiences that immerse players in the world of Calmlings.
- Data-Informed Designer: Skilled at using player feedback, playtesting, and analytics to perfect the player experience.
- Collaborative Leader: Excellent communicator who can inspire and align engineers, artists, and producers.
- Technical Awareness: Able to partner with engineers to ensure design feasibility and bring ideas to life.
Nice to Haves
- Experience designing subscription-based games or direct-to-consumer (DTC) products.
- Background in mental wellness, mindfulness, or fitness apps.
- Expertise in creating emotionally rich, character-driven gaming experiences.
