E/E Systems and Functional Safety Engineer

You will be responsible for BYTON E/E functional safety requirements and activities within your domain area. This will involve communications with internal teams and suppliers, implementation, integration and validation of vehicle and digital platform features.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and manage, and lead technical reviews for functional safety requirements at system and subsystem levels
  • Maintain bi-directional traceability to functional safety requirements and test cases
  • Develop safety concepts, requirements, and system architecture to support the functional safety goals
  • Work with the verification/validation teams to author a comprehensive integration and test plan and a compresensive safety goal validation plan for your domain area
  • Work with hardware and software (firmware) development teams as needed to implement methods and measures to deliver functional safety into your allocated domain
  • Coordinate and/or execute safety analyses (FMEA, FTA, hardware architectural metrics etc.)
  • Refinine company process to support functional safety
  • Support the safety manager to develop safety arguments (the safety case)

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in system engineering, preferably in the E/E domain
  • A minimum of 3 years experience in developing safety related embeded systems to ISO 26262, IEC 61508 or other recognized safety standards
  • Preferred experience in either development of hardware or software for safety related embedded systems and exposure to executing ISO 26262 at these levels
  • Preferred exposure to automotive or other quality management / software process improvement systems such as IATF 16949, ISO 15504 (SPICE) or others
  • Knowledge of state-of-the-art requirement and issue management / collaboration tools (DOORS, JAMA, JIRA, Confluence, etc.)
  • Safety analysis techniques e.g. FMEA, FTA (qualitative and quantitative), HAZOP etc. applied at the systems level and hardware part level
  • Automotive experience at an OEM or Tier 1
  • Demonstrated ability to develop requirements from the ground up
  • Must be self-motivated, with a desire to continuously improve and learn
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects with tight timing constraints, providing examples of such scenarios throughout one’s career
