The Role

BuzzFeed Inc. is looking for motivated, detail-oriented, and analytical operations professional to join BuzzFeed Studios, our video and premium content division. The role will focus on building and managing centralized data systems, reporting on key organizational metrics, designing processes to support daily operations of the Studio, and working with key company Administrative functions (e.g. Legal, Finance/Accounting) to ensure our business runs smoothly and efficiently. The ideal candidate is autonomous, but ever present on and contributing to a team of creative multi-hyphenates, has a love of data analysis and spreadsheets, and a fluency in reading contracts. This is a hybrid role, located in our Los Angeles office, and reports to BuzzFeed Inc.’s SVP of Operations.

You Will

  • Own the systems, processes, and reporting that drive the Studio’s operational and legal efficiency, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and seamless execution across all priorities.
  • Improve upon key systems for the day-to-day health of the Studio, such as deal trackers, rolodexes, ledgers, and other sources of truth. 
  • Manage resource and budget tracking and produce regular reports on how our resources are being utilized.
  • Produce rigorous reporting on revenue performance, ongoing deals, and other key metrics.
  • Create, optimize, onboard, and enforce processes that increase Studio productivity, as required..
  • Manage the internal accrual process to ensure SOX compliance.
  • Manage the pipeline and priorities for our Legal/Business Affairs function to ensure key deals are prioritized and response times are reduced.
  • QC and summarize draft agreements before they are distributed to third parties to ensure internal alignment. 
  • Track rights management across the Studio.
  • Track and report on all Studio royalties and participations for premium projects.
  • Proactively spot tools that uplevel our current operation, including but not limited to ways that AI can enhance our team’s work.
  • Be reliable and create a sense of trust on your team.
  • Deliver work that consistently exceeds expectations.
  • Thrive in an environment that requires working on multiple time-sensitive projects simultaneously. 
  • Partner with the SVP of Operations and President of Studio on special projects on an as-needed basis.

You Have

  • 4+ years relevant experience in strategy & operations, business operations, business development, or other relevant field, ideally at a studio, publisher, or streamer.
  • Experience with key tools like Excel/Sheets, Looker, and Airtable. 
  • The ability to create strong decks/reports that effectively communicate trends and recommendations for executive audiences. 
  • An obsession with organization, efficiency, and timelines.
  • Superb communication and diplomacy skills.
  • A calm, collected approach, even in challenging moments.
  • The ability to move seamlessly between projects as they demand.
  • A strong eye for details, patterns, and trends. 
  • A proactive approach.
