The Role

BuzzFeed Inc. is looking for an experienced and innovative leader for its YouTube video business.  The Video Lead, YouTube will oversee the full portfolio of BuzzFeed Inc brand’s YouTube channels, including BuzzFeed Video, BuzzFeed Celeb, BuzzFeed Animation, Unsolved, and more. The Video Lead, YouTube will have a deep understanding of the YouTube platform from analytics to popular trends, to creative direction as well as have experience in uploading content to leverage their understanding of the platform to maximize viewership, subs, and most importantly revenue. They will work closely with each of the brand leads on their YouTube strategy to maximize success within these three pillars. The Video Lead, YouTube should be enthusiastic about the pioneering opportunities for BuzzFeed Inc.’s YouTube business, and have a clear strategy for growing each channel YoY. They will be a keen collaborator, energized by the opportunity to work with the most creative teams in digital media, but also have a business mindset, and goal of growing revenue.

You Will

  • Lead publishing strategy and creative best practices for all channels.
  • Supervise a team of editors producing adaptations, compilations, cut downs etc. 
  • Liaise with stakeholders across BuzzFeed Inc, from content to sales to admin. 
  • Liaise with representatives from YouTube and share learnings and best practices with internal stakeholders. 
  • Build necessary materials to ensure the health of youtube properties internally and externally
  • Stay up to speed with platform trends, new tech and products, and future opportunities. 
  • Build out and execute on a revenue growth strategy

You Have

  • At least 5-8 years of experience working in mid-senior positions in digital media.
  • Superior editorial judgment and command of current trends on YouTube and other platforms.
  • Strong analytical skills to understand how to leverage available data and video libraries.
  • A firm grasp of basic video editing and tech specs.
  • Outstanding organization and communication skills.
  • Superior project management. 
  • A self starter attitude, and an ability to multitask, work with limited resources, and work creatively and efficiently in a high-pressure environment. 
  • A positive, curious disposition with an active interest in figuring out what makes an audience tick.
  • A great energy and attitude. Can take direction and collaborate well with others.
  • A competitive drive.
  • Be a self starter who works at a fast pace.
