This position is hybrid or remotely based with the ability to travel 10-15% dependent on location. We are unable to offer work sponsorship for this role. 

As a VP of Data Strategy in the SaaS Division at Buyers Edge Platform, you will play a critical role in defining, leading, centralizing, and documenting a unified data strategy across all business units within the organization. This executive position demands a strategic thinker with deep expertise in data management, analytics, and business intelligence, and a strong focus on the meticulous documentation of data processes and mapping to meet business objectives.  It also requires building trust and credibility through effective communication among all stakeholders in multiple business units.

  • Improve data quality and data mapping process across BEP companies by defining and implementing best practices for a unified data platform.
  • Collaborate with BEP technology teams to define new ways to improve and build best in class tools and processes for efficiently managing superior quality for a constantly growing and changing set of industry data.
  • Reduce data collection, cleansing and mapping costs by reducing overlapping efforts across BEP companies and streamlining processes to utilize the strengths of each companies’ best assets and practices.
  • Improve the ability to share data between companies to improve customer experience, reduce onboarding time and create sales new sales opportunities leverage the value of increasing the breadth and depth of data available to all companies.
  • Drive innovations in data practices for each BEP company to ensure successful delivery of customer initiatives, the ability to support new data dependent opportunities within each and across all companies.
  • Leverage Platform tools and services to build organization initiatives through our values by supporting people, overall organization performance, and maximization of culture for the organization.
  • Strategic Leadership and Centralization:
    • Develop, implement, centralize, and document a comprehensive data strategy that aligns with the company’s overall objectives.
    • Lead the transformation into a data-driven organization with a unified and well-documented approach to data management.
    • Solicit input from BEP Platform and SaaS business units to ensure there is a macro data strategy that will align and enhance the overall data continuity without compromising data security and client sensitivity.
  • Data Governance, Management, and Documentation:
    • Establish and enforce data governance frameworks, ensuring data accuracy, privacy, security, and comprehensive documentation of all data processes.
    • Oversee and document the centralized management of data assets, including data sourcing, storage, quality, and mapping processes to meet business needs.
    • Analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement, implementing strategic changes as needed.
    • Adopt company-wide tools that build consistency, efficiency, and effectiveness of data reporting and achieving division and brand goals.
  • Process Mapping and Business Alignment:
    • Ensure thorough documentation of data processing and mapping processes, aligning them with specific business requirements and goals.
    • Facilitate the translation of complex data concepts into clear, actionable business processes and strategies.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration and Integration:
    • Drive the brand and its uniqueness, innovation, and operational excellence across the portfolio.
    • Work closely with business unit leaders, ensuring data strategies and their documentation are integrated and aligned with business unit needs.
    • Promote a consistent and integrated approach to data across the organization through collaboration and clear documentation.
  • Innovation, Technology, and Documentation:
    • Keep abreast of and document emerging data technologies and trends to drive innovation and efficiency in data strategy.
    • Lead the adoption of advanced data analytics tools and platforms, ensuring their alignment with the centralized and documented data strategy.
    • Define and ensure achievement of key performance indicators (KPIs) for individuals and by teams to measure the effectiveness of sales and customer success activities utilizing identified tools.
    • Analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement, implementing strategic changes as needed.
    • Adopt company-wide tools that build consistency, efficiency, and effectiveness of data reporting and achieving division and brand goals.
  • Team Leadership and Development:
    • Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing data strategy team, emphasizing the importance of documentation and process mapping.
    • Foster a collaborative environment that encourages knowledge sharing, professional growth, and meticulous documentation practices.
  • Stakeholder Engagement and Communication:
    • Communicate the documented data strategy and insights effectively to stakeholders at all levels, including executive leadership.
    • Collaborate with external partners to enhance data capabilities, ensuring alignment with the documented central strategy.
    • Partner with Exec Team/Brand Presidents and CTO/CPOs on strategic business development and key corporate planning opportunities that positively impact the overall business.
  • Customer Success & Retention
    • Champion customer success as it relates to the data SaaS and BEP complexities through proactive communication to ensure that supported Brands and customers achieve their desired outcomes with our products and services.
    • Foster a culture of collaboration and cross-functional teamwork, where insights and expertise are shared to deliver exceptional results for internal and external customers.
    • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key clients, understanding their needs and mitigating or resolving concerns promptly as it relates to data.
    • Partner with cross-functional teams to continuously improve product offerings and business processes based on customer and team member feedback.

About you:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Business, or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of progressive managerial experience in a similar role, with a strong focus on data strategy centralization and documentation.
  • Proven track record in team building and prior success in leadership development.
  • Proven track record of running data strategy, mapping teams, and implementations for food services companies to include operators, distributors, and manufacturers.
  • Proven track record of enhanced client engagement to maintain lifetime client relations.
  • Excellent presentation skills at the Brand, Division, and BEP executive level.
  • Proven ability to drive client and customer satisfaction, both internal and external.
  • Established proficiency in developing and implementing new business models.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for managing a team at the VP/Sr Director level or above.
  • Proven track record in developing, implementing, and documenting successful data strategies.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience in managing cross-functional teams and documentation initiatives.
  • Expertise in data governance, data management, analytics, business intelligence, and process documentation.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proven ability to exercise initiative, judgment, and discretion.
  • Strong leadership and collaboration skills; ability to partner across functions to provide consistency.
  • Proven track record in team building and prior success in leadership development; ability to motivate teams and simultaneously manage several competing initiatives.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
