We are looking for an experienced Payroll Manager to lead our payroll function. You'll work to ensure our payroll is processed efficiently and effectively. Our ideal candidate is analytical and methodical, with experience in payroll administration and deep knowledge of payroll regulations. We also value integrity, team spirit, and strong organizational skills.

With the uncertainty and rapidly changing circumstances surrounding COVID-19, most positions at Bungie are expected to onboard and work from home for a significant portion of 2021. In 2022, most Bungie employees will adopt a flexible schedule working from home part time (outside of positions identified as either 100% onsite or fully remote in WA & CA). Currently only a select range of positions are available for full-time remote work in WA & CA (please review location for details). Prospective employees located outside of CA & WA will need to establish WA state residency within 45 days of a start date. Bungie’s work from home, flexible work schedule, and remote policy is subject to change at the company’s discretion.  


  • Multi-state payroll processing for all employees including bonuses, and special payments
  • Perform monthly, quarterly and annual tax filings for all jurisdictions and validate for accuracy
  • Process equity transactions including new grants, exercises, and forfeitures in stock administration system
  • Work closely with HR to validate all employee changes are updated appropriately
  • Process and review all employee tax forms including W-2’s
  • Field employee payroll related questions timely and succinctly
  • Partner with and support other cross-functional teams across the organization
  • Recommend Workday system enhancements and improvements


  • Must have 5+ years of payroll experience
  • Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal tax guidelines. Multi-state experience strongly desired
  • Ability to research tax and regulatory requirements working with outside advisors as necessary
  • Experience with Workday or other modern ERP systems
  • Experience working with third party payroll providers including ADP
  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication
  • Ability to work well independently on complex and ambiguous tasks within a small team
  • Detail-oriented, analytical with a focus on accuracy
  • Extraordinary interpersonal and communication skills, cultivator of collaborative working relationships with teams across a diverse organization
