The Opportunity
Our team is growing and we’re looking for a detailed and experienced Senior Accountant to join our team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for our full monthly accounting cycle and daily processes including monthly revenue recognition, month-end accruals and journal entries, AR, AP, and reviewing all Buildout’s expenditures, to name a few.
You will be the go-to person for all types of financial data and accounting details and play an important part in providing this critical data and analysis to department heads and our private equity sponsor. You will receive guidance and development from our Controller, who this position reports to, and exposure and opportunities to work with our CFO. How You’ll Contribute at Buildout
- Participate in and oversee the monthly closing process and account reconciliations
- You will have accounting review and oversight over Buildout and its subsidiaries
- Responsible for producing monthly consolidated financial statements, that are in compliance with GAAP and internal policies
- Assist in preparing monthly reporting packages
- Play a critical role in transitioning all accounting related activities from our third-party accounting firm to in-house
- Responsible for the standardization of account reconciliations across all subsidiaries
- Assist the Controller with the revenue recognition process for all new deals and existing business
- Support the process of migrating the various Buildout entities onto our Sage Intacct ERP
- Assist in providing oversight for all sales tax related filings, reconciliations, and regulatory compliance
- Implement new ideas to further streamline our process and ensure a Buildout Quality experience
What You’ll Bring to Buildout
- 3+ years of related experience, technology/SaaS experience is preferred
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or relevant experience
- Experience in month end close with multiple entities, journal entry, and reconciliation review
- Experience with people management or a desire to grow your people management skills
- Working knowledge of GAAP
- Excellent knowledge of various Microsoft applications like Excel
- The ability to learn quickly and prioritize responsibilities in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
- Team player who communicates and collaborates well with internal team members and external vendors
- You bring a growth mindset: you’re highly motivated, solutions-focused, and comfortable working with ambiguity
- Nice to haves:
- Experience with Sage Intacct and Salesforce

We are based in Chicago, but this is a remote-friendly role open across most of the US. The salary range for this position starts at $70,000.
