The Opportunity

Headquartered in Chicago with employees distributed across the country, we’re a fast-growing tech company that achieves our vision through our commitment to our Team, Customers, Product, and Continuous Improvement. Like many companies, we’ve shifted from being fully in the office to being a remote-first culture and have a distributed team across the US. 

Business Development Representatives are on the front lines of the sales team and have a big impact in our organization. Over 50% of our customers were brought on through the Business Development team. In this role, you will generate new business and interest in our platform by prospecting our extensive Commercial Real Estate Brokerage database. This role is also a great way to fast track your career into other sales roles across the company like Account Executive and Relationship Manager. In fact, many of our current Account Executives and Relationship Managers started on the Business Development team. 

What You’ll Do at Buildout 

  • Generate new opportunities for our sales team through outbound prospecting and high-touch outreach 
  • Maintain effective outreach to leads through different channels (Live Chat, Webinar, etc)
  • Sustain high activity (call and email) volume daily
  • Become a commercial real estate and Buildout expert in order to effectively communicate Buildout’s value proposition 
  • Achieve monthly quotas of sourced qualified opportunities
  • Track your sales activity in our CRM (Salesforce) and leverage tech tools to execute your sales strategy (SalesLoft, Sales Navigator)
  • Consistently reflect on professional development and identify areas for improvement and coaching with your manager
  • Develop strong relationships with prospects through discovery calls in order to smoothly transition them to Account Executive
  • Work closely with Account Executives and collaborate cross-functionally with teams including Marketing and Platform Design 

What You’ll Bring to Buildout 

  • 1-3 Years of professional work experience
  • Prior prospecting experience a plus (SaaS is a ++)
  • A consistent track record of meeting and exceeding goals 
  • Excitement about SaaS and high-tech
  • Self-starter with track records of success in your professional, personal, or collegiate lives
  • Long-term interest in being a part of a sales organization
  • Team player with excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Exemplary problem-solving skills and ability to take initiative
  • Positive attitude and resilience, especially when customers are not ready to invest in our product
  • Superior attention to detail with exceptional organizational and planning skills
  • Adaptable to change and interest in learning in a fast-paced sales environment

We are based in Chicago, but this is a remote-friendly role open across most of the US.
The salary range for this position starts at $50,000 base + $20,000 variable based on commissions.
