The Build Engineer position will report to either a lead or director in the programming team. Build Engineers are responsible for ensuring the day-to-day stability of the game by working closely with the QA department to ensure timely bug fixes from the rest of the development team and give first-line support for building & building infrastructure-related issues for the development team.

They are also expected to maintain and improve the build process itself. A Build Engineer should understand best-practice and standard techniques in build system management will seek to learn more about innovations within the industry.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with various teams (QA, Engine, Code) to optimise the build and deployment pipeline;
  • Assist with preparing stable builds ensuring work is merged correctly and resolving conflicts;
  • Collaborate with QA focusing on optimising build stability and performance;
  • Coordinate with different departments and prioritise critical issues;
  • Monitor build system failures and errors and ensure issues are being addressed promptly;
  • Provide Perforce support for the team;
  • Work with the engineering team to create and maintain an automated build testing process.

 

Requirements

  • Relevant experience with build and automation in the games industry or equivalent;
  • Strong knowledge of source control systems (Perforce, Git, etc.);
  • Experience with build systems such as Jenkins, Teamcity;
  • Knowledge of C++ and/or Python;
  • Experience working with game engines;
  • Able to work independently and self-sufficient;
  • Strong communication skills, and comfortable working across teams;
  • Able to work within GMT or CET time zone;
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced, high growth, start up company;
  • Passion for games.

  • Bachelor’s degree with a Computer Science/Software Engineering focus or similar experience.
