About the Role As a Adoption Specialist you will impact the lives of families and children through recruiting, training, developing and matching adoptive families with children in foster care. You will also provide leadership to the region on adoption-related best practices and contract requirements.
What You’ll Do As a member of our team you will have an impact on our clients through accomplishment of the following responsibilities:
Meet the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs of adoptive children during the time they are placed in a Buckner adoptive home, as outlined in each client’s plan of service.
Review, screen and update pertinent information about Buckner WTC families desiring to adopt children in the guardianship of DFPS. You would also do this for DICA families that desire to adopt a child privately with Buckner.
Obtain and review pertinent information on waiting children to consider for possible matches with WTC families.
Attend DFPS placement meetings and make recommendations for matching and selection of DFPS children with Buckner WTC families.
Develop adoptive families that are waiting for an adoption match to care for the complex trauma needs of the children in the guardianship of DFPS.
What You’ll Bring to the Team To be successful in this role and a great addition to our team we need you to come with the following:
Bachelor’s Degree in a human services or other related field
Excellent public speaking skills
A professional commitment to Christian principles so as to perform tasks and responsibilities in alignment with Buckner’s mission, vision, and values;
Preferred Qualifications In addition to the amazing qualifications and experiences listed above, if we had our say, we would also look for:
Master’s Degree in social work or counseling
Counseling and/or social work licensure
Previous foster care or adoption case management experience
