About the Role
As a Foster Care Case Manager you will impact the lives of children and families through the coordination and provision of services to foster children, foster families, adoptive families, and agencies, and for the development and provision of services to family units. This role is critical in shining hope by meeting the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs of foster children during the time they are placed in a Buckner foster home. The Buckner Foster Care and Adoption team is the face of hope to children in foster homes through their focus on family permanency. 

What You’ll Do
As a member of our team you will have an impact on our clients through accomplishment of the following responsibilities:

  • Provide ongoing case management for clients living in Buckner foster homes.
  • Participate in regular supervision and support with the client and foster parents during frequent home visits, office visits, and telephone contact as is required by state licensing and Buckner policy.
  • Provide individual, family and support group counseling to foster care clients. Provide both counseling and crisis intervention as required.
  • Develop, monitor, and review with clients their Plan of Service designed to increase strengths, address needs, and reduce conflict in the home.
  • Participate in the screening and licensing of potential foster parents as a member of the team. Participate in Child Placing decisions for children being placed in foster homes.
  • Complete home studies for potential foster parents as a part of the licensing process.
  • Lead training for foster parents to provide them with pre-service and continuing education.
  • Assist in recruiting foster families by making presentations to the general public as scheduled.
  • Participate in in-service training, including PRIDE, SAMA, CPR/First Aid, Medications and other clinical related training, as well as Buckner activities for Foster parents and foster children.
  • Support program compliance through timely completion of thorough documentation for the case files in alignment with minimum standards.
  • Complete all necessary admission and assessment paperwork; plan and complete discharge paperwork.
  • Perform administrative tasks including: entering data for clients into the ER system; timely and thoroughly completing documentation required; prepare progress reports for placement agency caseworkers; and creating and submitting other program reports and documentations as needed. 
  • Communicate with TDFPS (Texas Department of Family and Protective Services) and other placement agencies by telephone; meet with placement agency caseworkers to discuss client needs.
  • Supervise client visits with parents as required.
  • Attend and participate in permanency conferences, family group conferences, circle of support meetings and court hearings as needed.
  • Travel as needed to provide services to families. Provide personal transportation for home visits, training, and other appointments as needed.
  • Work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends as needed to meet the needs of the clients.
  • Participate in 24-hour on-call duty on a rotating basis.

What You’ll Bring to the Team
To be successful in this role and a great addition to our team we need you to come with the following:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or a related field of study;
  • Minimum of 2 years prior related case work experience;
  • Ability to observe and make accurate assessments of situations when working with children and families; 
  • Ability to use professional discernment skills and maintain confidentiality; 
  • Ability to use analytical thinking to solve problems and present viable solutions;
  • Ability to effectively and professionally facilitate meetings and workshops to clearly deliver information to individuals/families and others;
  • Age 21 with a valid driver's license and a clean driving record so you can be insured on the Buckner insurance and provide transportation as needed. Requires personal transportation to provide services throughout the local community;
  • Ability to work nights and weekends and be on-call as needed;
  • A professional commitment to Christian principles so as to perform tasks and responsibilities in alignment with Buckner’s mission, vision, and values;
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to use tact and courtesy in interactions with coworkers, individuals and families.
