Job Purpose:

BTIG seeks a quantitative analyst to join our growing Algorithmic Trading team in New York.  This individual will become an expert on Firm’s trading algorithms and heavily involved in research and analysis.  Regular duties include analyzing trading results and monitoring usage and performance.  Although most communication is informal, an important responsibility is the creation of reports for both internal and external use.  The team is a small group with a flat structure, offering an unusual opportunity to be involved with all aspects of the business. The ideal candidate is intelligent, curious, likes working with data, understands the essentials of computer science and statistics, and possesses extraordinary communication skills.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop expertise in algorithmic trading and market microstructure
  • Develop intimate understanding of the architecture and design of BTIG’s algorithms
  • Create tools to aid and systematize analysis
  • Create and manage reports for use both internally and externally (for clients)
  • Monitor trends in usage and performance
  • Assist in design and development

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Degree in mathematics or computer science, including statistics
  • Education in fundamentals of software development
  • Experience with data analysis
  • Proficiency with common tools (unix, Excel, databases, scripting languages)
  • Approach to tasks that is self-motivated and resourceful
  • Ability to think critically and creatively
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Uncommon attention to detail
  • Experience with equity trading preferred but not essential
  • Series SIE, 7, 63 necessary, but not required upon hiring

Compensation: 

  • BTIG offers competitive compensation and is required by law to include an estimate of the salary range for each role. Salary range is based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, location, years of applicable experience, skills, qualifications, licensure and certifications, and other business and organization needs.
  • The current base salary range for this role is $150,000 - $200,000 per year. Please note that certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation such as discretionary bonus.
