Brunswick Group is seeking a Director to join our Financial practice in New York.

Members of our Financial practice are deeply experienced and focus their client work on mergers & acquisitions, shareholder activism, IPOs, financial communications & strategic investor relations and restructuring. These specialists partner with colleagues in our global sector teams and other practice areas to bring a powerful and complementary combination of perspectives to help clients manage their reputations during critical financial events and with financial stakeholders.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

Client Contribution & Handling
  • Delivering strategic advice to clients, drawing on financial communications expertise and depth of professional advisory experience – and contributing to formulation of advice on strategy and communications approach for financial situations
  • Representing the firm in discussions of complex financial situations with senior executives at the client and with financial and legal advisors
  • Serving as the main point of contact for clients in day-to-day communications.
  • Demonstrating deep knowledge of the clients’ business and strategic communications issues and the capital markets
  • Monitoring level of account profitability and intervening as necessary
Communication Skills
  • Writing thoughtful, well-structured content; considering audience in style and tone of communications
  • Expressing a well-developed point of view; analyzing and distilling complex information
  • Exhibiting good judgment and exercising discretion
  • Questioning and challenging in a constructive way; presenting unpopular ideas confidently
Business Development
  • Identifying new opportunities to deliver other Brunswick expertise to existing clients; actively pursuing and securing extensions of client relationships
  • Building and maintaining strong external networks in order to deliver valuable insight to clients and the Firm
  • Sourcing new business opportunities along with Partners
  • Applying knowledge and experience to lead well-run pitch teams and drive pitch preparation to support colleagues across regions and sectors
Team Management
  • Actively and effectively managing account teams and driving day-to-day activities for multiple accounts at a time
  • Guiding team on structuring the development of client deliverables for fast-moving and high intensity situations in a timely manner
  • Fostering development of team members’ skills and client handling ability by identifying new challenges and encouraging team to stretch where appropriate
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • 10-15+ years of experience in an advisory position with a deep understanding of the capital markets and a range of financial situations including but not limited to M&A, capital raises, shareholder activism and investor relations
  • Ability to anticipate and analyze stakeholder reactions (investors, analysts, media, employees)
  • Experience distilling complex financial and market-related developments to outside audiences (investors, analysts, media) including those who are not financial experts
  • Experience managing teams of five or more people
  • Client service oriented
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize and think strategically and creatively in a fast-paced environment
  • Exceptional research, writing and communication skills
  • Energetic and self-motivated team player with strong work ethic
  • Ability to exhibit discretion with confidential client matters

  • Previous experience on Wall Street, in financial journalism or financial media relations is a plus

Compensation

The applicant who is selected for this position will be eligible for the following compensation: 

In New York City, the annual compensation for this role will be: $225,000 - $250,000.

If an offer is extended to an applicant in New York, the applicant will be paid in line with this range and based on the applicant’s experience and qualifications. This range applies only to the New York position, and salaries in other offices and regions will vary based on an applicant’s experience and qualifications, as well as the competitive landscape.

Bonus Eligibility: Annual discretionary bonus contingent upon individual performance and the overall performance of the Firm.
