Your Team

Reporting to the Controller, Calgary, Samara Quinton, you will oversee the accounting and reporting functions for the Calgary Communities, Commercial and Corporate divisions.

Your Key Deliverables

  • Manage the day to day functions of the Calgary Communities (Communities, Commercial and Corporate) accounting department
  • Oversee accounting processes to ensure transactions are recorded accurately, timely and in accordance with policies
  • Oversee the monthly and quarterly financial reporting and analysis for Calgary
  • Prepare and review monthly and quarterly management reporting packages, including operating dashboards, asset reports and presentations
  • Oversee monthly GST returns, quarterly tax provisions and annual tax returns
  • Coordinate Calgary compliance related requests (internal and external audit)
  • Evaluate current accounting processes and provide recommendations for improvements
  • Supervise, develop and mentor accounting staff
  • Provide finance support for Residents Associations
  • Assist in monthly and annual budgeting and forecasting processes
  • Support future ERP implementation
  • Provide ad-hoc reports or analysis, as required
  • Other special projects as assigned

Must Haves

  • CPA designation
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with progressive responsibilities
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work within tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Ability to lead and operate in a fast paced environment

Nice to Haves

  • Experience with system conversions would be an asset
  • Real estate experience would be an asset
