What is the Special Education Program Director?
In this role you will be responsible for overseeing a program for students with complex needs. You will work closely with other members of the leadership team to build a supportive, nurturing educational program that will empower our diverse community of learners to meet their individual goals.
In this role, it is critical that you crave feedback, use data to assess progress toward goals and support teachers. You will serve as a point person and resource for teachers and families regarding the needs of students in the program. During school hours, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, providing support and feedback to teachers and other support personnel, leading professional development, ensuring compliance with special education laws, and working closely with staff and families to create and implement effective behavior plans.
Hours for this role are 7:00am - 5:00pm, though you will also need to remain available to teachers, students, and families outside of school hours.
Salaries are based on years of experience. Those who join our team for this role with 5 years of previous teaching experience earn salaries of at least $85k.
Is This You?
You are a highly qualified special educator (undergraduate or graduate degree in moderate to severe special education or special education teaching license)
You have a minimum of five successful years of teaching students with moderate to severe disabilities needs (preferred)
You have a strong working knowledge of IDEA and MA special education laws
You have experience implementing ABA approaches in classrooms
You have experience working with students who use AAC devices
You have strong communication and organization skills
You are professional, warm, and collaborative with students, families, and colleagues
You are able to start on July 18, 2022 (or earlier)
