What is the Dean of Students Role?
As the Dean of Students at Brooke High School, you are an integral part of the school’s culture team and are responsible for supporting the school’s positive culture of high expectations on a daily basis.
Your general responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Working closely with the Assistant Principal for School Culture and the Dean of Students to support a warm, positive school culture of high expectations and respect
Support the Dean on communicating with students and families regarding disciplinary actions
Supporting detention for 9th-12th grade students (making parent phone calls, scheduling detention, sharing coverage when students are removed from class, leading detention daily until 5:00 pm)
Developing strong, supportive, positive relationships with students and families
Providing students in crisis with space and strategies to cope and improve in-class behavior
Supporting breakfast, lunch, arrival and dismissal with the Director of Operations to ensure that the school community is positive and safe for all students
Being highly present and visible during school hours and modeling positive interactions with students and families
Collaborating with leadership team, staff, and families to address student behavior, implement effective individual behavior plans for at-risk students, and use data to drive decision making
Committing to an extended school day (7:00 am-5:00 pm) and remaining available to teachers, students, and families outside of school hours

After at least 2 years of experience teaching or working with students, you believe in high expectations for all students and are committed to doing whatever it takes for students to excel academically and interpersonally.
You show exemplary emotional compsoure and unwavering respect for our students and their families.
