What to expect

The Software Development Team Lead will assume ownership for the successful development and delivery of Broadsign’s products while ensuring quality standards are maintained. They will provide technical and team leadership to an agile team through coaching and mentorship, and carry responsibility for executing the team objectives.

About the role 

Management 

  • Guide the team’s development efforts toward technical excellence and successful project delivery.
  • Provide technical leadership to teammates through coaching and mentorship.
  • Exhibit and establish a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct performance reviews and regular 1-on-1 with team members. Provide constructive feedback to ensure the team is progressing in the right direction.
  • Work with engineering leadership and product managers to develop project and resource plans/schedules.
  • Partner with HR on team staffing decisions, including hiring, performance management and corrective measures as needed, promotion decisions, salary reviews, etc.
  • Ensures the team contributes towards department and company objectives.

Software Development

  • Maintain high standards of software quality within the team by establishing good practices.
  • Promotes agile development methodologies.
  • Ensure that proper automation testing is developed using industry best practices

What you need to perform in this job

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or software engineering 
  • Minimum 5+ years' experience in a software developer role.
  • Strong communication and managerial skills
  • Ability to lead a team through continuous learning techniques
  • Ability to motivate a team
  • Understanding of various coding methods and computer languages
  • Experience with software development lifecycle (SDLC) processes
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work closely with multiple teams throughout the organization
  • Comfortable with a hybrid flexible environment and open to going to the office sometimes

Knowledge of French is required for positions permanently located in Quebec so incumbents can communicate with their colleagues and partners in Quebec as necessary. French-language training is offered to all incumbents in permanent positions in Quebec who do not have a good knowledge of French. Fluent English is required for this position to communicate with colleagues, clients, and partners (or suppliers) located outside Quebec and to understand the technical and scientific documentation used in our industry.
