As a Web Developer, you will perform and manage all types of website development tasks, including front-end development, back-end development, forms development, systems integration and database development to create and continually enhance our market-facing website presence. You will also be the primary owner of Brightcove’s Search Engine Optimization (SEO) efforts as they relate to back-end website health and structure—including management of redirects, backlinks, page load speeds, sitemaps, meta tags, canonical links and mobile responsiveness.

This role will work cross-functionally with Product Marketing, Demand Generation, Corporate Communications, Go-to-Market and the broaders Web Team to identify, recommend and implement digital solutions for improving the desktop and mobile website experience, as well as driving organic traffic to the site. This role requires a solid understanding of cross platform/browser compatibility, and a passion for creating streamlined web experiences. In this role, you will be responsible for translating mockups and wireframes into semantically correct templates, expanding the functionality of our web systems, and increasing overall website traffic. We are looking for someone who can not only recommend and implement solutions that follow best practices but can also take an active role in shaping the Brightcove digital experience. 

Your Primary Responsibilities:

  • Building out and maintaining web systems and platforms to support brightcove.com - including content and media delivery platforms, front-end components, developer toolkits, localization systems, deployment systems, and asset management tools
  • Collaborating on corporate web strategy: designing, testing, and implementing site improvements to make a world-class website.
  • Continuously architecting improvements as demand grows and complexity increases for our systems
  • Contributing to the professional development of team members and colleagues, improving their technical knowledge and developmental practices.
  • Advising management on software development priorities, risks, and required effort levels.
  • Testing to ensure work does not introduce errors or issues that negatively affect web traffic or conversions
  • Maintaining a high degree of overall website health and increasing the percentage of organically-driven traffic

What You Will Bring: 

A minimum of 3 years of experience in each of the following:

  • Web development in a B2B marketing organization
  • Working with web technologies within a marketing team
  • Supporting lead and demand generation with web technologies
  • Integrating websites with CRM systems, marketing automation systems, finance systems and ABM systems
  • Owning and managing website health and analytics
  • Forms development and integration
  • Dashboarding for performance tracking, as well as management and executive visibility
  • Leveraging tools, frameworks, and methods to facilitate effectively meeting marketing objectives
  • Troubleshooting system-to-system integrations with other website-adjacent systems

In addition to the above, the qualified candidate must possess the following:

  • Extensive experience integrating JavaScript and HTML-based content with other 3rd party environments (i.e., Contentful CMS). 
  • Demonstrated knowledge building reusable code and libraries for future use.
  • A strong understanding of infrastructure and scalability. 
  • Experience maintaining a development infrastructure, ensuring uptime, and optimizing site performance. 
  • A deep understanding of web technologies and how those impact the feasibility of solutions from design, technical and digital marketing perspectives. 
  • The ability to develop, implement, and debug website code, and deliver projects in a fast-moving environment
  • Current knowledge of emerging website, CRM and marketing-focused technologies

Experience in the video industry is also a plus, as is experience developing or managing e-commerce environments, managing the hosting of websites, and working with eCDNs. Additional skills and qualifications include:

  • An in-depth understanding of web markup, mark down, including HTML5, CSS3 
  • Demonstrated ability with server-side CSS pre-processing platforms, such as Stylus, LESS, SASS, or Styled Components
  • Solid understanding of Amazon Web Services such as S3, Lambda, and Cloudfront
  • Strong knowledge of NodeJS 
  • Proficient understanding of client-side scripting and JavaScript frameworks, including ES6, ReactJS, and jQuery 
  • Solid understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues, including mobile, and ways to work around them 
  • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git 
  • Experience with Static Site Generators such as Gatsby, NextJS, or Nuxt
  • Familiarity with JAMstack development techniques and headless CMS
  • Familiarity with GraphQL 
  • Proficient understanding of asynchronous request handling, partial page updates, and AJAX 
  • Ability to synthesize project information and establish the appropriate scope of a project.
  • Dedicated team player with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment 
  • Ability to troubleshoot and learn third party SaaS tools 
  • Attentive to technical details with an appreciation for design and UX
  • High degree of independent judgment 
  • Ability to solve complex problems
