About Brevium:

Brevium is a niche software company providing medical practices with the ultimate tool for patient reactivation. Brevium intelligently analyzes practice management database records, identifying lost patients in need of care and presenting the practice with those most likely to accept an invitation to visit again.

Pioneering the first reactivation software product, Brevium continues today at the forefront of a burgeoning market industry. Brevium has made the difference in helping people avoiding blindness, and has even saved lives as practices have become aware of former patients with degenerative diseases who had fallen off the radar. Despite growing competition, Brevium remains unchallenged as the smartest and most effective reactivation tool on the market.

EMPLOYMENT

Keys to Brevium’s success include maintaining a positive, innovative spirit and a consistent hunger for improvement. These attitudes thrive in a culture of open candor, integrity and respect. We embrace a safe environment for growth and development, openly sharing and analyzing mistakes & human error as they relate to process instead of individuals. We value and promote a synergistic environment where co-workers are always happy to lend a hand.

TECHNOLOGY

The Brevium product is built on Microsoft SQL and integrates with many practice management systems (EPMs), some requiring ODBC translation. As demand for a non-supported EPM increases, our development team regularly produces new EPM integrations.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Brevium database engineer (DBE) interns install, upgrade, and resolve problems with the product, usually hosted on a customer’s production server. DBE interns may be asked to assist support technicians, or have cases re-assigned to them when troubleshooting reveals greater complexity.

When assigned a case, DBE interns request access from customer IT personnel to connect remotely to the server, and install, customize, or investigate and resolve issues by troubleshooting the database. DBE interns also work with members of the customer service team to gather information or coordinate with the customer to schedule larger jobs, and with the development team to resolve bugs in the product. When a customer changes to a new EPM, competent interns may be asked to “stitch” data from the old EPM integration to work with the new EPM. The work is challenging and enjoyable, usually consisting of several different types of cases each day.

Interns may work up to 40 hours per week at our Rexburg office.

IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE:

Ideal candidates are typically in their 3rd or 4th year of progress toward Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Information Systems or Computer Science. Candidates will have completed some database courses, possess a strong interest in SQL and a willingness and aptitude to learn quickly. Although this is not a programming role, troubleshooting is done using t-SQL, so the aptitude to work through data flows, form hypotheses and test them to reach a valid conclusion is paramount. Although we expect to provide significant training on our database and on SQL, we need to see a good understanding of basic database concepts and t-SQL syntax.

Brevium DBE interns are responsible to make sure that cases progress efficiently from start to finish. Progress often requires waiting or coordinating with other parties, so DBE interns generally work multiple cases at a given time. Once assigned, a DBE intern assumes responsibility for all customer and IT communication associated with the case until it is closed or reassigned. Must be organized and understand the importance of managing expectations via regular updates and effective communication with customers, IT personnel, third parties, etc.
