Position Overview
The Accounting Director at Breeze is a core member of the team for driving and maintaining low costs so we can keep fares low for our Guests. Responsible for the accounting, tax, and internal controls, the Accounting Director serves with other business leaders to drive accuracy and cost ownership. They need to have excellent critical thinking and decision-making skills, as well as a solid understanding of best practices and future opportunities to build a best-in-class accounting team. The Accounting Director will need to have a solid understanding of the business model and a process-oriented mindset for establishing and creating relevant and applicable finance and accounting policies.
Essential Functions
- Own all accounting operations and procedures
- Prepare and present monthly financial statements to senior executive team
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal government tax requirements, including reporting, filings, and identifying tax savings opportunities for the organization
- Establish internal controls to protect the organization and its Team Members
- Work with department heads to build proper budgets and forecasts to drive for appropriate cash management
- Own the ERP system, including training and implementation as the company grows
- Facilitate an effective and efficient close process and ensure all accounting transactions are recorded accurately
- Recruit and train a best-in-class accounting group
- Coordinate and oversee all third-party tax preparation, filings, and audits
- Work closely with auditors, both internal and external
- Able to work with complex payroll rules and ensure payroll is executed timely and accurately
- Develop and build working relationships with internal and external business partners
- Evaluate accounting pronouncements and assess financial and reporting impact
- Execute other duties and responsibilities as requested by the executive team
- Achieve performance measures and adhere to established standards in conjunction with Breeze Aviation Group Values of Safety, Kindness, Integrity, Ingenuity, and Excellence
Minimum Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in accounting, corporate finance, or FP&A
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license
- High performance orientation, ability to work well under pressure, prioritize projects, meet deadlines, and maintain flexibility
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills
- Self-starter must have a positive attitude and strong desire for success
- Complete projects on time with minimal supervision, ability to work varied hours when necessary to meet deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree Accounting (MAcc), MBA, or equivalent post-graduate degree
- Experience in the aviation industry, travel industry, or with an airline
