We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to join our team. As the Senior DevOps Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing our DevOps processes and infrastructure with a strong focus on AWS, Terraform, and GitHub Actions. You will play a pivotal role in enhancing the reliability, scalability, and efficiency of our systems while ensuring seamless software delivery.

Motley Fool has recently completed a migration from an on-prem infrastructure configuration to an AWS infrastructure configuration. We seek a senior devops engineer to help implement the changes needed to improve our infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Infrastructure as Code (IAC): Design and implement infrastructure as code using Terraform to provision and manage AWS resources. Maintain version-controlled infrastructure configurations.

  • CI/CD Pipeline Management: Develop, maintain, and optimize CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions to automate the build, test, and deployment processes for our applications.

  • AWS Expertise: Leverage your deep knowledge of AWS services to architect and optimize cloud infrastructure, ensuring security, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.

  • Configuration Management: Implement configuration management best practices to ensure consistency and reproducibility of environments.

  • Monitoring and Logging: Set up and maintain monitoring and logging solutions to proactively identify and resolve issues. Utilize AWS CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, or similar tools.

  • Security and Compliance: Collaborate with security teams to implement security best practices, manage access controls, and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.

  • Automation: Continuously identify opportunities for automation and develop scripts or tools to streamline manual tasks and optimize resource usage.

  • Collaboration: Collaborate closely with development, QA, and operations teams to facilitate efficient workflows and provide DevOps support.

  • Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for infrastructure, processes, and procedures.

  • Disaster Recovery: Implement and maintain disaster recovery plans to ensure data integrity and high availability.

  • Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior team members.

 

What you’ll be working on

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer or similar role with a strong focus on AWS, Terraform, and GitHub Actions.

  • Extensive experience with AWS services, including EC2, RDS, EKS, S3, Lambda, and more.

  • Proficiency in infrastructure as code (IAC) using Terraform.

  • Strong expertise in CI/CD pipelines, with experience using GitHub Actions.

  • Prior experience as a developer

  • Solid scripting and automation skills (e.g., Bash, Python, PowerShell).

  • Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes.

  • Experience with monitoring tools such as Data Dog, AWS CloudWatch or New Relic 

  • Knowledge of security best practices and experience implementing them in a DevOps context.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
