Overview

As a Principal Software Engineer at BrainGu, you will lead the charge in developing mission-critical, scalable, and secure applications as part of our Mission-Apps-as-a-Service offering. This role demands a blend of technical expertise in both front-end and back-end development, a deep commitment to code quality, and a passion for driving technical architecture. You'll work closely with world-class engineering teams and operators to deliver solutions that are not only fast and reliable but also directly aligned with our mission needs. Your leadership will ensure the development of resilient products in React and Python/Django within our dynamic and decoupled application framework.

Responsibilities 

  • Spearhead the development of scalable and resilient web applications, creating frameworks that enhance code quality and enable the writing of maintainable, efficient, and scalable code across the full stack.
  • Implement advanced security measures in line with the DevSecOps Reference Design, ensuring our applications are protected against threats while adhering to compliance standards.
  • Utilize sophisticated instrumentation strategies to monitor and optimize performance, ensuring our applications deliver actionable insights and meet high-performance standards.
  • Drive the technical vision and scalability discussions, working closely with the team to explain the benefits of a dynamic and decoupled development approach, and ensuring our technical solutions are robust, flexible, and future-proof.
  • Regularly lead technical discussions, share knowledge, mentor engineers across levels, and collaborate with stakeholders to foster a culture of technical excellence and innovation.

Requirements 

  • This position may require a US Government Clearance, which requires US Citizenship
  • 11-13 years of experience as a Full Stack Software Engineer, with expert-level knowledge in React, Python/Django, and familiarity with CI/CD environments.
  • 11-13 years of demonstrated ability leading large-scale projects, ensuring high code quality, security compliance, and performance optimization.
  • Proven track record in architectural design, capable of making decisions that enhance the scalability and resilience of web applications.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to mentor engineers, lead by example, and foster collaboration within a diverse and remote-first engineering team.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of articulating complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and driving forward the technical vision.

Tech Stack 

  • Django/Python: Expert-level knowledge in developing backend applications with Django and Python. You should be adept at leveraging Django's capabilities to create robust, scalable applications, emphasizing code reusability and maintainability.
  • React: Advanced proficiency in React for front-end development is essential. You should be capable of building dynamic user interfaces that are efficient and responsive, using React's component-based architecture.
  • Redux: Experience with Redux for state management in React applications. You should understand how to design and implement complex state management solutions that are maintainable and scalable.
  • Docker: Proficiency in using Docker for containerization is required. You should be skilled in creating, deploying, and managing Docker containers to streamline development, testing, and deployment processes.
  • Kubernetes and Networking Protocols: A fundamental understanding of Kubernetes for orchestrating containerized applications and knowledge of networking protocols relevant to microservices architecture. This knowledge will support the deployment and management of scalable and resilient applications within a microservices ecosystem.
