Box IT provides technology services and support, enabling efficiency, simplicity and productivity for internal business partners and external customers. The Box IT organization provides two distinct, yet compatible functions. The first is enabling productivity and supporting all employees, and the second is supporting the company in its growth as the global leader in the content management and collaboration space by developing and showcasing Box products, technology, and digital transformation best practices. Working in tandem, these two functions reduce IT cost and complexity, both within Box and for its customers.

  • Collaborate across the broader IT Operations, Corporate Security, and Public Cloud teams to maintain, operate, and optimize core parts of our corporate networking stack.

  • Design, develop, and implement network systems to facilitate Box employee connectivity to company services, both on premise and cloud based.

  • Improve and implement proactive network monitoring to catch issues before they become problems

  • Ensure an excellent user experience for Boxers on the office network and VPN

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior IT Operations team members, sharing expertise and driving excellence across Corporate Networking.

  • Build out new trendsetting offices as well as continued network support for our existing offices worldwide

  • Own projects end to end including gathering requirements, designing solutions, and continuing delivery

  • Shifted hours occasionally needed for collaboration with the Global IT, Security and Engineering Teams
  • BA/BS degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or equivalent degree/experience in related field

  • 3+ years in IT Operations, Technical Operations or Engineering, preferably at a fast-paced high-growth company

  • Routing expertise with protocols including BGP. ISIS and OSPF a plus

  • Switching experience, including spanning tree, standard LAN protocols, LACP, trunk, 802.1q

  • Network security operational experience, including firewalls (Palo Alto Networks is plus), SSL VPN, IPSec and PKI technology

  • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting issues in, and improving the performance of, corporate wireless networks

  • Strong networking foundation with an understanding of TCP/IP and the OSI model

  • Proficient in IT security, able to stay focused during incidents, and skilled in organization, planning, and documentation

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including contact with remote teams.

  • Proven success in independently managing projects, solving complex problems, and understanding technical requirements across all levels

  • High energy, excellent teamwork, and commitment to exceeding expectations

Preferred skills:

  • Working knowledge of Python, and config management tools like Ansible a strong plus

  • Proficiency with monitoring and alerting tools such as Splunk, Datadog, and ThousandEyes

  • Familiarity with common vendor management tools: Aruba, Arista, Cisco, Palo Alto

  • Professional level technical certifications (e.g. CCNP, PCNSE) a plus

Boxers are expected to work from their assigned office a minimum of 2 days per week, with a focus on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
