Our team is searching for someone who not only has the chops to deliver timely documentation for all our releases and launches, but is also able to support the vision of how the technical writing function should evolve to streamline the process internally. You are earlier in your writing journey, but you should be able to help explore new ways to create increased engagement from our end-users. You understand the need to engage cross-functionally to get the information and content you need to deliver documentation in a timely manner.
As the technical writer you care deeply about how your deliverables materially make our customers' lives better.  You understand the business and the analytics/metrics that drive success in technical documentation. You will be responsible for creating and editing content that will be consumed by users in many of Fortune 500 companies by working collaboratively with engineering, product team members and Go To Market partners. You will be tasked to bring amazing documentation to market by creating simple and concise guides for Box's end users and defining the customer-facing voice of Box.
  • Keep Box customers aware of new and existing features by conveying technical material in a clear, concise fashion, and keep them engaged and ready for the next release
  • Create, write, edit, and format external product documentation
  • Provide insight and help support tactical initiatives around organizational knowledge and content development processes
  • Help evangelize the writing style guide and work to refine and improve documentation deliverables
  • Proactively gather information from software engineers, designers, and product managers about new features and upcoming product changes, then translate and represent the information in a manner suitable to the target audience
  • Ensures consistency of tone and use of language within customer-facing documentation 
  • Assist in maintaining image log 
  • Bachelors Degree 
  • Ideally 1+ years of technical writing experience in a technology company - please note that this is a junior level role
  • Familiarity with reading and researching JIRA
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to deliver high-quality documentation paying strong attention to detail
  • Able to write in explanatory and procedural styles for multiple audiences
  • Skilled at organization, prioritization and multi-tasking
  • Strong understanding of customer needs and experience acting as a customer advocate
  • Adapt well to working within a writer work group and sharing content deliverables
