Boxed for Business is made up of Small-to-Medium (SMB), Enterprise, and Commercial businesses. As a Director of Business Development, you will be responsible for identifying, selling in, and closing medium-to-enterprise size B2B opportunities. We are seeking an experienced Business Development professional with a proven track record in converting revenue opportunities, building and managing partner relationships, leading complex deals, and executing business expansion strategies. You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment and collaborating closely with key stakeholders to achieve business results. 

You will:

  • Develop a robust business development strategy and pipeline, by using data and market insights, as well as your own professional network, to go after new business opportunities. This includes but is not limited to - identifying high impact industry verticals and customers, creating marketing pitch materials, selling in Boxed B2B’s core value propositions, and cultivating new B2B partnerships.
  • You will need to be comfortable with both inbound lead conversion and outbound prospecting. Experience in deal negotiation and partnership development is required.
  • Work closely with internal partners – Merchandising, Product, Marketing, Finance & Accounting, and Legal – to strategically and creatively develop new business constructs.
  • Lead and execute on your strategy to convert opportunities into revenue and meet your business goals. You will play a critical role in driving the overall project management of each opportunity.
  • Be responsible for managing the after-sale support for select strategic accounts, and work with the Enterprise manager to grow and improve engagement with the existing portfolio of Enterprise customers.
  • Use KPIs and customer insights to measure success of partnership initiatives
  • Collaborate with external and internal stakeholders to develop a roadmap of enhancements to maximize our value exchange with the customers
  • Frequently funnel customer insights and feedback back to internal teams to enable smarter business decisions.


  • 5-7+ years of B2B business development and partnership experience -- eCommerce / CPG B2B or government procurement experience preferred. 
  • Ability to lead and close complex deals and negotiations
  • Ability to think strategically and creatively to develop winning relationships, product, and business strategies
  • Self-starter mentality; willing to roll up your sleeves to get the job done and no job is too small
  • Strong program management skills to lead end-to-end relationship delivery across key business areas – tech & product, merch, marketing, customer service, etc
  • Analytical thinking with a data-driven mindset and strong business judgment. Able to synthesize data and pull key insights to assess the financial and business impact of each partnership.
  • Exceptional skill in driving results against aggressive timelines, managing multiple priorities and executing flawlessly
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral, with a keen attention to detail
  • Embodies teamwork; significant interaction with employees at all levels so ability to influence others is key
  • People leadership experience a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • As needed, assist with the implementation, compliance, and maintenance of Sarbanes Oxley and internal control over financial reporting requirements.
