Role and Responsibilities

    • Develop, implement, and update all safety programs for Boutique Air
    • Ensure safety program effectiveness and compliance
    • Perform annual and recurrent safety audits
    • Perform hazard assessments to recommend additional engineering/administrative controls and procurement of personal protective equipment
    • Research and evaluates safety training resources
    • Maintain all associated SMS/ASAP/MSAP documentation and records
    • Ensure manuals are consistent with all federal government regulations and directives
    • Develop/manage all safety/risk training
    • Manage/facilitate company root cause analysis activity
    • Represent the airline in safety and regulatory compliance matters with the FAA and NTSB as well as other appropriate organizations
    • Solid familiarity with FAA regulations and the Company's Operational Manual
    • Provide direction and guidance to assigned on-site Aviation Safety Managers in the execution of company policies and practices and development of site-specific safety programs
    • Ensure that all personnel follow safety programs, policies, procedures and systems designed to mitigate the risk of safety incidents/accidents
    • Assist in evaluating field operations and company-based support functions' business processes and initiatives to ensure effective safety practices
    • Manage the company’s emergency response plan readiness and training
    • Maintain hazardous substance exposure reporting
    • Process hazard and incident reports to identify, eliminate, or mitigate workplace hazards
    • Make recommendations to correct/prevent identified safety issues
    • Conduct other duties as assigned by the DO and CEO

 

Job Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • Three or more years of aviation safety experience with a Part 135 operation
  • Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) or equivalent in Aviation Safety/Management or similar program or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Private pilot certificate
  • Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in directing, guiding and evaluating personnel
  • Possesses sound judgment and objectivity in decision-making
  • Possesses the ability to establish interpersonal relationships and work collaboratively with management and other personnel

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with WBAT and/or other safety related software
  • Part 135 operations experience in an airline environment (Commuter  Authority)
  • Advanced computer skills
  • Commercial/instrument ratings
  • Computer literate, with proficiencies in Google’s “G-Suite” and Microsoft Office
  • Training in the following areas: flight safety philosophy, human factors and the decision making process, accident prevention, the role of the safety officer as advisor to senior management, risk management, accident/incident management, safety management systems, emergency response planning, and incident investigation
