Position Title: Quality Assurance Engineer

Position Summary:

As a Quality Assurance Engineer, you will be part of a team to help ensure quality standards of the products being developed and released to our customers are being met at the highest levels. This is done through test case creation, test automation and performance testing. Understanding processes such as Agile, Scrum, BDD, CI/CD will be essential to this role in ensuring high quality for our customers and products. The ideal candidate will possess technical troubleshooting skills, be a problem solver and have a passion for technology and process improvement.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Testing Techniques
    • Manual Testing: Proficient in writing test cases, test plans, and executing tests manually.
    • Automated Testing: Familiar with popular automation tools and frameworks (e.g., Selenium, JUnit, TestNG, Cucumber).
    • Regression Testing: Conducting tests to ensure that new changes haven’t broken existing features.
    • Smoke and Sanity Testing: Quickly validating core functionalities after a build or patch.
    • Functional Testing: Ensuring the product works as per specifications.
    • Performance Testing: Knowledge of testing tools like JMeter or LoadRunner to test application scalability and performance.
  • Test Automation
    • Proficiency in scripting languages like Python, Java, JavaScript, or Ruby for automating tests.
    • Familiarity with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI) for integrating automated tests into build pipelines.
    • Experience with Test Automation Frameworks (e.g., Selenium WebDriver, Cypress, Appium for mobile testing, Postman for API testing).
  • API Testing
    • Proficient in testing RESTful and SOAP APIs using tools like Postman, SoapUI, or Rest Assured.
    • Understanding of API documentation and methods (GET, POST, PUT, DELETE, etc.).
    • Ability to validate responses (status codes, response time, error handling).
  • Bug Tracking & Test Management Tools
    • Proficiency with JIRA, Bugzilla, or similar defect tracking systems.
    • Familiarity with test management tools like TestRail, Zephyr, or Quality Center.
  • Version Control Systems
    • Basic knowledge of Git for code management and version control, especially in collaborative environments.

  • Consistently shows aptitude and ownership in solving application and technical problems while working with team members
  • Works closely with engineering team members and Sr engineering staff on commitments and deliverables
  • Cultivate your engineering and business curiosity to understand the nuances and capabilities of the software and services the team is delivering
  • Listen to what is being asked of you and do not be afraid to not know everything. Respect and listen to all voices on the team. Ability to communicate issues effectively and clearly to the team

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or similar) or direct related technology and business experience
  • 3+ years of experience in software testing and quality assurance
  • 3+ years of experience with programming languages and scripting
  • Experience in test planning and tools such as Jira
  • Experience in testing native mobile applications on iOS and Android
  • Understanding of Object-Oriented Programming concepts
  • Understanding of test automation frameworks and concepts using Appium and BDD framework.
    Knowledge on using Flutter Driver is an added advantage
  • Understanding of REST-API webservices
  • Experience on testing web services using Postman / Insomnia
  • Understanding of database concepts and SQL is an added advantage
