 The Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled QA Engineering Manager . The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background, exceptional communication skills, and proven managerial expertise. This role requires a proactive approach to market research, ensuring the integration of the latest technologies into our quality engineering processes throughout the software development lifecycle. This role will report to the Senior Director, Software Quality Engineering for the PTX portfolio and will be based out of the Theale, UK office. 

 

How you'll contribute:

 

Technical Leadership: 

  • Lead and oversee the automation and manual engineers in the quality engineering team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality software products. 
  • Help Develop and implement comprehensive quality engineering strategies, methodologies, and best practices. 
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends, integrating them into the quality engineering processes. 
  • Conduct regular code reviews, test plan assessments, and performance evaluations to ensure adherence to quality standards. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement automated testing frameworks and tools. 

 

Communication and Collaboration: 

  • Foster a culture of open communication and collaboration within the team and across departments. 
  • Effectively communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. 
  • Provide regular updates to senior management on quality metrics, project status, and potential risks. 
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing and continuous learning within the team through workshops, training sessions, and mentorship programs. 

 

Managerial Skills: 

  • Manage and mentor a team of software quality engineers, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities. 
  • Set clear performance goals, conduct performance reviews, and provide constructive feedback. 
  • Allocate resources effectively to meet project deadlines and ensure optimal team performance. 
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance team productivity and efficiency. 

 

Quality Assurance and Compliance: 

  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and best practices in quality engineering. 
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for quality engineering processes, tools, and methodologies. 
  • Implement and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of quality engineering efforts. 
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective action initiatives to address quality issues and prevent recurrence. 

 

What will make you Successful:

 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. 
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in software quality engineering, with at least 2 years in a quality engineering leadership role (Team lead, QA Manager). 
  • Technical expertise in software testing, automation frameworks, and quality assurance methodologies. 
  • Proven experience in managing and mentoring high-performing teams. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to diverse audiences. 
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing quality issues. 
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to software quality engineering. 

 

Preferred Skills: 

  • Experience with Agile and DevOps methodologies. 
  • Proficiency in any one or more of the following programming languages - Java, JS, Python, or C#. 
  • Knowledge of cloud-based testing tools and environments. 
  • Certification in quality engineering or software testing (e.g., ISTQB, CSTE).
